Got some pastries here and the cheesecake had mold inside. While the woman was friendly, she would have definitely known that the cheesecake had been out for a while (there was only a small amount left) and yet still encouraged us to purchase it.

Star Bakery makes the best Poppyseed Roll Iāve purchased in NYC. Typically, most examples you find are finished with a white, sugar icing, which is not to my liking. My Polish grandmother would have considered this unnecessary and overly sweet and not an ingredient in her repertoire of many baking achievements including Poppyseed Rolls. Also, Iāve experienced an over emphasis on almond extract that detracts from the subtle taste of the Poppyseed. I drive from Park Slope to Star in Greenpoint with my fingers crossed hoping that I havenāt come too late!

excellent shop with all the polish goodies you want. their makowiec is the best iāve found in greenpoint (almost as good as mamaās homemade mak). had a lovely chat in my broken polish with olga and felt right at home. will be back!

My partner and I went into this deli hoping to buy some pastries. We were deciding on what to get, but when we realized that the place was cash only, I said something to the effect of āOh, Iām sorry, I didnāt realize you only take cash here.ā The owner then became extremely rude, saying things like, āI donāt understand how you people leave the house without money,ā pointing at me with his middle finger, and ranting about politics. I tried to laugh it off because I was uncomfortable, and he told me, āYou laugh now, but in a few years, youāll be crying.ā We left the deli extremely distressed, feeling like we were being chased out. Awful experience.

This place small but really good is a neighborhood in the great location Their polish donuts are perfect. Many of great products from Europe/Polish. The people who work here and the owner, are genuinely friendly. Iāve also tried other baked goods and they are a yummy ā¦.
Amazing pastries especially the chocolate rugula like croissantās. I came in this morning and asked the older gentleman if he has some today and he said he didnāt but will bake me some to be ready this afternoon. He kept his promise and they were so good ! He is very passionate about being cash only so be prepared lol
