Reviews for The Osprey

We pass this restaurant often on our daily walks through the park. Its lush patio always intrigued me and it's here that I dragged my bf here for his birthday, recently. He requested close and casual so it fit his bill. It was our first dinner out in nyc since lockdown (and likely our only meal out about town this year). I do like that the hotel and restaurant take covid precautions seriously. The host greeted us at the front, took our temperatures and then let us full review

Overpriced menu for small portions, poor service by unattentive waiter. Spent $160 with 1 beer and glass wine, tip and left hungry. Food was prepared well. Bought pasta with cheese sauce for $24, listed as "Large Plate", was small as an appetizer portion. Kale salad and Gazpacho were quite good. Waiter never asked if we wanted another drink, never brought more water though it was a hot evening outside on the deck. Were there more than 3 hours.

This place is pathetic. The rest of the restaurants in the city are handling COVID while also providing good customer service. Whereas this place makes you wait in the street in front of a sign that says "please wait here for the hostess for the Osprey" and you wait upwards of 45 minutes because you don't want to lose your reservation and nobody ever comes out to explain what's going on or how long the wait will be. They treat you like cattle at the door.
