As a Cuban from Miami, I have been searching New York City for a place like this that brings the food I grew up having to NYC. I was recommended this restaurant by a friend and I am very happy to have tried it because Tico’s knocks the Cuban sandwich out of the park. The croquetas compete with any place you’d try and they understand the importance of the little things like the quality of the Cuban bread and the fantastic mojo sauce. If you want to know what real Cuban food tastes like from Miami, this is the place to go. You won’t be disappointed.

I always come by and the food is delicious and the staff are the sweetest! Truly a taste of home! Would highly recommend the media noche or tostones. Their homemade sauces are also delicious! 1000/10

Sandwiches are really mid. White people think this is Cuban food. It’s not.

I wanted to like this place but the food didn’t meet expectations. Ordered the oyster mushroom sandwich and fried plantains. Unfortunately the mushrooms were undercooked and rubbery and the plantains were also dry and not sweet at all.

Tico’s Cafetería is the kind of place that instantly feels warm and welcoming ☕💛. The aroma of fresh coffee fills the air, and the staff greet you with genuine smiles every time. The food is simple but full of flavor — freshly made sandwiches, pastries, and local favorites that taste homemade 🥐🥪. It’s cozy, clean, and perfect for a relaxed breakfast or afternoon break. Whether you’re a regular or just passing by, Tico’s makes you feel like part of the neighborhood. A true little gem for comfort and good vibes 🌿🍰.

I wandered in here with luggage over extended and the type of hungry that gives you a blinding headache. I ordered quickly, but realized I had made a mistake when they brought it out (vegetarian). They were very kind and quickly made and brought out what I had meant to order. Coffee is exceptional and food was devoured.

I love this place, was the last recommendation to come here by a late friend who passed (womp womp) and we finally got to go. His recommendation did not disappoint - the customer service was so incredible, the employees all so kind! The Media Noche and the Cubano were incrrrrredible. Media Noche had a slight sweetness that tickles the tongue and the Cuban was just savory and perfection. The croquetas de jambon y queso were the besssst, the sauce they came with was definitely reused on our sandwiches because it was so good. Will rave about this place!!

I was excited to try this and my expectations were a bit too high. My partner got the cuban, and it was fine, nothing special. I got a bowl and it was sooo bland. The avocado tasted like what you buy at whole foods - all you taste is the sourness from the preservative to keep it from going brown. Underwhelming and we won’t be returning as the prices don’t reflect the quality. I am latina btw maybe thats why i expected stronger flavors.

Had this saved from the NYT “57 sandwiches that define NYC” list and decided to try it after I was in the area.

I got the Cubano, and I was hoping it would be a lot more flavorful. Cute spot, but I unfortunately wasn’t impressed with my sandwich.
