Classic ramen was good, chashu rice ball was also good

Spicy tan tan ramen and cha shu rice ball were especially good. I would definitely go back again.
The vibe of the restaurant was cute too, although unfortunate to be seated next to a very loud table which made it very distracting and hard to have our own conversations.
Service was average, staff was nice but would like to see them at least offer a fork or straw when they see a small child at the table.

Average Experience – Nothing Special
I visited this restaurant recently, and overall, it was just okay. The service was neither fast nor particularly friendly—just basic. The food was edible but lacked any standout flavors or presentation. As for the interior, it felt uninspired, nothing that adds to the atmosphere. If you’re looking for a memorable dining experience, this probably isn’t the place.

Pretty good remen but overpriced imo
I came by on a Very Cold Thursday night with two friends, perfect for a warm bowl of ramen. We had a res for 7pm and it was really packed when we got there; fortunately, we didn't have to wait to get seated, so definitely make a reservation in advance!
I ordered the classic Tokyo tonkotsu ramen, which was really delicious. The broth was fragrant and rich without being too salty, and the noodles were cooked wonderfully (very authentically chewy). The slices of chashu were tender and savoury. The various other ingredients (bamboo, seaweed, etc.) all fit together really nicely for the overall dish.
My friends both ordered the spicy tan tan ramen which was great too!
For dessert we had the matcha kaki gori to share. Portion size was decent (I think a good amount to share for ~4 people). It was really sweet, and while I do like matcha, even for me it was a bit overpowering at times. Not sure I was a big fan of how sugary this was, but I think it was a nice contrast to the heavier/saltier broths from earlier.
All in all, a very lovely meal and price point, while certainly on the higher side, wasn't too crazy. I haven't been to Tonchin for years (and only the Manhattan location before), so I'm glad it is just as tasty as I remember :)

Food was pretty good. Ramens are fairly normal for Japanese standards, which may appear to be “like omg amazing” for nyc standards where most of the ramen spots aren’t authentically operated. Appetizers are very small and overly seasoned, but whatever. Maybe I’m just a sucker for authentically crafted Japanese cuisine.
Waitress/hostess zooming around everywhere was pretty irritating, consistently reordering/removing things on our table and kept asking “finish?” while we were about halfway done eating. She wasn’t aggressive, just had very domineering/get out of my way/scurry along kind of mentality (the place was half-full at the time during the peak of dinner hours to put it in context).
Place is gently decorated, definitely has that authentic Japanese touch fused with nyc/wburg style. Seats are perfectly sized for petit statures. Immoveable chairs/benches/tables force you to cram in if you’re of a larger stature like myself. Could be a pro or con depending on your night.
Probably a good place for a date and meetings with friends/acquaintances. But if you just want a good bowl of ramen don’t come here for that alone.
Vegetarian options: Two noodle options: one ramen, one dry noodle with peanuts. Pretty good.

I finally gave this hyped ramen spot a try, but it was a letdown. The experience started off on the wrong foot when the waitress at the door gave us attitude. After we were seated, we asked to change tables (the restaurant was empty—it was the middle of the day), but she was visibly annoyed.
The appetizers were decent but overly salty, and the ramen itself was nothing special—I’ve had way better in NYC. On top of that, the place isn’t family-friendly, and the overall service left a sour taste. Definitely not worth the hype.

Loved the appetizer: potato and chicken wings were the highlight. The dry ramen was tasty, I recommend that one if you are looking for a new flavor. The classic ramen was decent, nothing special.

I decided to try out a highly recommended ramen place, Tonchin. Excited by all the rave reviews, I ordered their signature dishes, including the chicken wings and salad. But to my surprise, everything turned out to be way too salty for my taste. It felt like a huge letdown after all the hype. Have you ever had an experience where the food didn’t live up to your expectations? Let me know your thoughts or share your favorite ramen spots that won’t disappoint!

The food served at Tonchin Brooklyn is excellent and I appreciate the attention to detail from the food on the table to the atmosphere of the restaurant.
We got:
•smoked dashi ramen (phenomenally well-crafted broth, tobiko topping was fun, smoked fish oil was such a nice touch), appreciate the detail of nori sheet not submerged in the broth so it won't get soggy)
•+ original dashi salad (holy smokes the dressing and the flavors were really really tasty, I would definitely get this again)
•pizza ramen (was looking forward to trying this the most and it did not disappoint, savory notes, crispy guanciale was a nice touch)
Service was pleasant - they were attentive to refilling our water glasses. I was the first customer to use one of the restroom stalls and they even folded the toilet paper roll.
I would love to come back again and highly recommend anyone to try out the menu items I mentioned! The pizza ramen is a sleeper hit - give it a try!!

This will be a mixed feedback bc I want to share my husband’s opinion too. He said it’s the best ramen he has ever tasted in NYC. Compared to other famous ramen spots, this is the best.
However, I am a pescatarian and I ordered the vegan ramen. I don’t think I want to eat it again. It was ok, just very salty. I don’t like that they put cabbage in it. I wouldn’t order it again but that’s the only ramen you can eat if don’t eat meat.

Came in for early dinner without reservation. Nice place a little bit dark. I took the high chair table which was ok for a short dinner. Had the cucumber which was well flavored and cooled. Main dish was Original Tsukumen (?) cold ramen on warm dipping sauce with two fine strips of pork half an egg and some veggie. Love the sauce some may find it too salty. Overall the experience was great service was attentive and prompt. Since it was early there was no wait. Would recommend this place if you are in Williamsburg
