sometimes i run to Bushwick--maybe that's symbolic of my need for an escape from Lower Manahattan or just a desire to be in a different neighb. either way, my coffee waystation of late has been Wyckoff Starr. it's a very small shop--eclectic, artsy-ish, & welcoming. there are a couple of seats inside but to me that's the incentive--go out and explore Bushwick with "a damn fine cup of coffee" in hand. there's a menu of coffee drinks plus a selection of savory as well as sweet eats. while the interior is a tight squeeze if too many people walk in--the layout is uncluttered and has character. an Americano, here, has been more than adequate for that hot caffeine kick with roasted java flavor. the staff is genuinely friendly. the nods to "Twin Peaks" are a nice touch.

I was working on this area and wanted to try out some ice coffee on this hot summer day. First glance, the place is small but the background and atmosphere is great. They have some nice artwork and nice decor. I ordered their cold brew with whole milk and to me the coffee did taste a little bland and watery. They did offer sugar and also liquid sugar which is a plus while other coffee shops just offer cane sugar and sweeteners.Overall, I wish the coffee was a bit stronger to my liking.
