This is one of those places where the food isn’t good enough to make up for bad service, and tonight the service was horrible despite the restaurant being less than half full when we arrived.

We got the tasting menu and it took 30 minutes for our first course to arrive…which turned out to be just edamame. We then had to flag down our waiter to get water.

Subsequent courses came out sporadically, most with a 15-20 minute wait in between. Somehow, our main (pork tacos) came out immediately after the last small dish and there was barely room on the table to fit everything.

The chefs tasting menu is also dependent on what the kitchen has ready (as explained by our waiter when we asked if it varies by table). For one of the dishes, we were served queso fundido while our neighbors who were on the same course got bone marrow tacos.

The mandatory 20% tip was clearly noted on the menu so it wasn’t a surprise when we got the bill, but it felt like an insult after such a poor experience.

This was a hit or miss restaurant. I’d give it a 3.5/5

-tartare was pretty good. Flavors were balanced well
-guacamole was mid, grapefruit didn’t add to it at all. Chips kind of oily
-edamame was nearly inedible, was too sour. Other flavors were ok.
-bone marrow was absolutely amazing. The textures and flavors were out of this world. 20/10
-quesadilla - taco really oily. Meat kind of spongy??. Salsa was decent.
-queso, bread was delicious, cheese was decent, and apples were kind of random

-mushrooms are watery. Sour too. Would not recommend
-duck was very good. Skin was crispy and flavorful
-Ribs are good, but standard
-mains could use sour pickled onions, they were all very sweet

The meat dishes were very good on average, but the vegetarian ones leave a LOT to be desired. Order at your own risk

Xixa did NOT disappoint. From start to finish every food and drink item was outstanding! Such inspirational creativity to the craft, with attention to detail. These are the types of places that are remarkable and deserve praise. The prices are also reasonable for the level of quality. I will be back!

The tasting menu was incredible. The toasted coconut and salt rim on my cocktail Midnight in Paris was also soo yummy. Was surprised by how easy it was to get a reservation here which is so convenient considering it was probably one of the best meals I’ve had in New York City. Hidden gem alert!!

Had an awesome dining experience! Surprised more people don’t know about this place / that it wasn’t super crowded on a Wednesday night. Food was fabulous and chefs choice is a great deal. Also had a delicious hibiscus Agra Fresca drink. Highly recommend!

The menu offers a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. I especially loved the creative twists on classic dishes. The staff here especially Petra truly cares about their guests. They were attentive, courteous, and polite.

This is my second time dining at Xixa - it did not disappoint! Exquisite menu and cocktails, great vibe and great service from Petra - knowledgeable, provided great recommendations and personable. Highly recommend the tasting menu and de-constructed cocktails. Haven’t found another spot like this in the city and can’t wait to go back.

Xixa in Williamsburg isn't just another Mexican restaurant – it's a vibrant culinary journey that'll have you plotting your return before you've finished your first mezcal cocktail.

Speaking of which, Xixa's mezcal concoctions are nothing short of magical, smoky elixirs that perfectly complement their menu. But the true showstopper? The fish tacos. These little bundles of joy are so fresh, you'd think the fish jumped straight from the sea onto your plate, pausing only to don a perfectly crispy coating.

While the food and drinks alone are worth the trip, it's Petra, a waitress extraordinaire, who transforms dinner into an unforgettable experience. This globetrotting polyglot doesn't just serve dishes; she curates a dining adventure.

With six languages at her disposal, Petra navigates cuisines and cultures as effortlessly as she pairs mezcal with mains. Her worldly wisdom translates into spot-on recommendations that'll have your taste buds doing a happy dance.

Petra's genuine care and attention to detail could make even the most jaded New Yorker feel like the guest of honor at a lively Mexican fiesta. Thanks to her, my evening at Xixa was more memorable than stumbling upon a hidden cenote in the Yucatán.
