We heard this was a great place, so we drove out of our way to go here when we traveled to Niagara Falls. It was not good. The Beef on Weck sandwich looked good, but when we took a bite the roast beef was tough with gristle that you could not both through. Thought it might be one rogue piece in the sandwich, but every bite was that way. The roast beef was not flavorful enough to eat by itself. The waitress upsold us on potato pancakes, which also were not great, and they were a $15 side. Potato salad was Ok. The birch beer was good, and maybe the best part of the meal. All in, the price was $60 for lunch, and we shared the meal. We were very disappointed after driving 30 miles out of the way to come here. Would not recommend it.

Are there steps to get into the restaurant?

Roast beef is tough! Every time I went. Practically pulled my teeth out and I don’t wear dentures. I think everyone is saying it’s a great place because everyone else is saying it’s a great place. And it’s expensive

Outstanding roast beef!! Tender, sliced thin & cooked as requested. We ordered one dinner with just the roast beef & one dinner as a sandwich: roast beef on Kummelweck bread. Both were great! Comfortable atmosphere with friendly & attentive servers. Our server, Sean, was especially helpful for us as first time visitors. Highly recommend

Been here a few times before when we visit Buffalo and even though it’s overpriced, we’ve enjoyed it for the history and experience. That ended when we were in town for the Bills game.

My wife and I ordered 2 sandwiches with 2 sides each. Polite waiter brought our order but the glasses were so small I wasn’t able to mix my Crystal Light mix in my drink so I went to the car to get a water bottle.

Old grumpy grandpa comes over and says I need to take my bottle back to my car because “we sell water here” and no outside drinks allowed. Are you serious? We’re paying $55 for 2 sandwiches and sides and you’re REALLY going to say that???

I pretty much told him NO way and call the cops if you want. He said “well you can just leave now”. I told him I’ll leave after we eat our sandwiches. You can charge me for a bottle of water if you want. (I wasn’t paying for it anyway).

Well, somebody must have talked some sense into the old guy since they didn’t charge me for the water. That said, that grumpy old fart needs to retire before he ruins your business more than he is doing!!!

NEVER going back and telling all our friends to STAY AWAY forever!!!!!

What a wonderful and cozy historical spot to get yourself a taste of German and Buffalo-esque comfort foods. Staff was warm and inviting! Ordered the famous Beef on Weck and their poutine.
