If there’s one thing I know it’s a good steak and cheese. When it comes to the Sterling, it’s as good as it gets. Premium steak chopped perfectly on the hands down best sub roll I’ve ever had. The fries are pretty wicked also.

One of the best stops on Hertel ave. Great food and service, enough TVs on the walls so that you have a good view of the game wherever you sit! Only thing that could make this place better is if they sold some merchandise, like hats!

Horrible experience overall food very hard and not fresh.Menus are very old ripped up and doesn’t describe the meals good. Very long wait only one waiter and manger has a horrible attitude very disrespectful do not go to this restaurant. Lots of racial profiling blocked us from the door asking if we paid and the check was covered.

I did not state that I had a food allergy, nor did I consume more than one bite of the sandwich before informing staff that it was not what I intended to order. I also did not request that the entire meal be comped. The manager’s response at that time was, “we don’t mix and match here,” which was said in a dismissive and disrespectful manner.
More importantly, my review was not centered on food preferences or menu descriptions. It was about the overall treatment and the experience of being blocked at the door and questioned about payment after we had already paid the waiter. Nowhere in your response or stated policies has it been explained why a manager would stop guests from exiting in that manner.
This interaction reflects poor customer service, including debating with customers rather than addressing concerns respectfully. Regardless of business size or policy, guests should be treated with professionalism and without assumptions.
My review reflects my experience, and I stand by it. I hope this feedback is taken seriously and used to prevent similar situations in the future.

My wife and I just had an early dinner there today. First time here and food was FANTASTIC! My wife had the Steak & Cheese and I had The Rodeo Chopped Cheese. Both came with fries and let me tell you that the fries taste EXACTLY like McDonalds fries and that is a compliment. Huge portions! Service was fast and friendly too. Highly recommended.

I was at the Sterling Place Tavern in North Buffalo, New York last night, where I had the second best steak and cheese sandwich I've ever had. That includes cheesesteaks I've had locally, in the Philadelphia area, and all over the East Coast.
The manager, Lucas came up to me before I left and asked how I found out about the place. I told him that I learned about it from Anthony and his page Eat Local New York and that this is honestly the second best steak and cheese I've had anywhere on the East Coast.
The biggest reason this sandwhich was so good is because of the bread he uses. Lucas drives 2 hours to get his sub rolls. They are just the right thickness and support the contents very well.
Side note, this place was packed full of people when I got here. People cleared out once the Buffalo Bills game was over.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service . I was in town for the holidays and visited last night. The Alex’s chic sandwich was amazing from the toasted roll to the cutlet. The service was great and the bar staff were 5⭐️

I love the rustic, small town feel of the Sterling Place Tavern ! It’s a great family based atmosphere with friendly staff, amazing food , and cold beer! We were there today and I ordered the steak sandwich which was tender and cheesy , large enough for two meals! My friend ordered the wings hot with an extra blue cheese which were done to perfection! The staff was attentive and courteous ! We will be back to support this newly established small business !

Went there on a Saturday afternoon 2:30 pm. We were greeted by friendly staff who sat us at a table quickly. Our waiter took our order, and then brought our drinks. An hour later still no sign of 3 sandwhiches. We inquired and were told it would be out shortly. Another half hour still no food. We paid for our drinks and left. Won’t ever be back. Too many fine places to dine without waiting 90 minutes or more. Let people know if there is going to be a delay. I think our waiter just lost or forgot our order. Other than that, seems like a good spot to watch sports and drink. Nice crowd. Very cold. This isn’t really a place to go for food.

I was really excited to try this place. My son is active duty and is home visiting, he loves steak and cheese and thought this place would be a hit. The French fries tasted like straight up fish. Rancid fish. I'm assuming the oil is bad. Assuming because I tried speaking to someone but kept getting put on hold. Wanted to know if it was because they share a fryer with fish or to let them know the oil is rancid. Either way, it has left a bad taste in our mouth. Not sure we will be back. My bread was good, the three other sandwiches were over toasted and hard. Hopefully just a bad day.
