My brother’s wife passed away unexpectedly, and Taisho was her favorite restaurant. We needed a place for people to gather after the memorial and my brother, her widower, felt strongly about it being Taisho. If you’ve ever had the awful task of planning a surprise memorial, you’ll know it’s a miserable, sad, and chaotic mess. Taisho went out of their way to make it easier on us. They dealt with surprises and changes. They met our needs even when it was especially difficult for them. That attention to us alone was so remarkable I’d shovel more stars than any review could hold. But, it’s worth noting that the food, drinks and atmosphere were exactly what we needed as well. We’re so thankful.
Great food makes a great restaurant; no doubt Taisho has that. But part of being an exceptional restaurant is also being a great neighbor. Taisho is a great neighbor. I hope you never need them the way we did, but I do hope you go. Thanks Taisho team.

This is probably the most authentic Japanese restaurant I’ve found in Buffalo. Try their sushi boat, wasabi octopus, and pork cutlet rice — they taste just like what I had in Japan! It’s a great spot for company gatherings too. We ordered a variety of dishes and shared them, which made it fun to try everything. Big thanks to Tiffany for taking such good care of us — you can really feel how much she values every customer.

We came for a birthday dinner after coming before and having a very good experience. Today, our scallops were way overcooked, the chicken, the rice were all overcooked. Our vegetables were cold when they came out. Our server was wonderful and the manager was accommodating and comped our meals which was an appropriate correction. We will not be back.

The staff was friendly, the physical location quite nice. The food was okay...very Americanized and a little lack luster to be honest. I was expecting more, but it seems maybe their energy went into the location and the bar. Was a little disappointed on food quality, but my expectations might have been too high.

love taisho, DON'T love the brand new bartender tonight that dropped a bunch of comments that were racist against the Asian population. this set the tone for our entire evening. I think he thinks he was being funny? there was certainly nothing funny about it. according to him, it was only his second night. I really hope somebody can discuss this with him so he can keep a lid on his incredibly offensive jokes and opinions. truly disappointing.
The food tastes very white washed and is really mid for the price. If you’re asian this isn’t up to standard. There are many places in Buffalo that actually taste good for the same price if not less.

I second the racist bartender, this kid is a joke. He really ruined the entire experience for me and my partner. he wouldn't leave us alone the entire meal and made us really uncomfortable. Wouldn't let us order the way we wanted either and when we pointed out a mistake in our food, he laughed and walked away instead of offering to correct it. Total mistake eating at the bar. Also just in general the place has gotten dirty and unruly and the service sucks. Portions have gotten smaller and the quality of the food has gone downhill. I eat here really frequently and I've had a bad time the last three or four times I've been in. Really sad.

I stopped in to eat lunch. The hostess ignored me and helped the two women standing in line behind me. She seated the two women standing behind me in line. She then came back to ask me what was the name of the DoorDash order that I was picking up. I wasn’t picking up a DoorDash order but it is not nice to be profiled.
