The Old Pink, located at 223 Allen St in Buffalo, NY, is a dive bar that has earned its place as an iconic fixture in Buffalo's nightlife. Known for its dingy, light-deprived ambiance and red-tinged interior, The Old Pink is a beloved institution that dates back to 1968. It's recognized not just locally but nationally, often hailed as one of the top dive bars in the country. The bar, initially opened as the Pink Flamingo, was rebranded in 1991 when it moved a few blocks away, leading to the creation of the "Old Pink" and "New Pink" distinction, with the Allen Street location officially named Allen Street Bar & Grill but commonly referred to as The Old Pink.A standout feature of The Old Pink is its famous steak sandwich, which despite the bar's low-key appearance, is made from premium cuts of steak. This signature dish, alongside a renowned fried bologna sandwich, has become a must-try for visitors, embodying the dive bar's unique charm. The sandwiches, especially recommended during the late hours after a night out, are a testament to the bar's commitment to quality and tradition. Despite the challenges, including a confrontation with the city of Buffalo over its unique exterior paint job, The Old Pink has maintained its distinctive character, with a design that has evolved over the years but continues to stand out.Managed by Molly Brinkworth, who continues the family tradition of ownership, The Old Pink remains a staple of Buffalo's Allentown neighborhood, balancing its cool factor with its divey appeal. The bar's exterior and interior, characterized by eclectic designs, intense sticker coverage, and a bit of graffiti, along with a sparse, dive bar-authentic atmosphere, invite patrons into a world that seems frozen in time. A framed art print of Elvis, red lamps, and a small pool room add to the ambiance, making The Old Pink a memorable destination for both locals and tourists seeking an authentic Buffalo experience

Horrendous late night staff mixed with good locals. Super advise you to not go here. From an honest UK tourist. (De-rugs is normalised)

Been out of Buffalo for quite a while but when I returned this was one of our favorite stops. Went first time with my little brother, who has since passed, on a Saturday night at 1am and it was packed. I grew up in Lackawanna which make me an aficionado of dive bars and this place takes the cake. Does not look like much from the outside or in. Just a bunch of friendly people looking to have a good time. Have not tried the food and parking in Allentown is a problem but well worth the effort.

A classic Buffalo dive bar. Everyone talks about the steak sandwiches, and for good reason! They are truly spectacular, although the kitchen always seems to be closed when we finally get there… occasionally you might be able to talk the bartender into it, but if you’re looking for food make the Old Pink an earlier stop on your bar crawl.

One of the dirtiest bars I have ever been to. The odor will knock you over. I don't think this place has ever been cleaned since it opened.

5 stars for being the diviest, dive bar in the history of dive bars. It's dim, it's dingy, and it draws a variety of crowds. I have over a decade of memories from this place. But you know what? The bartenders are attentive and friendly and they serve the best steak sandwich I've ever had in my life and most likely the best you will ever have in your life too. It's a full steak (not cut up), cooked behind the bar to order, topped with melted slices of cheese and peppers and onions on a grilled roll. It's incredibly tender and delicious.
