Read the CURRENT website all about Murphy Orchard. Thought would be a pleasant drive out and to purchase some jams. When we arrived, it looked like the property had not had its grass mowed in quite some time, boarded up second floor windows on the farmhouse, the barn was in terrible condition, and even the driveway looked terrible. It's unfortunate because the history of the property is fascinating and important for people to see. It would be a lovely destination for weddings and events. The website should be pulled.
It’s not open and hasn’t been for several years. After the owner passed away, the property fell into neglect. Phone doesn’t work, the lawn isn’t mowed and the hours listed are not correct. Don’t waste your time driving out here, this is no longer a valid business
It is closed. The buildings are in disrepair and the property is overgrown.
Have someone run the place who actually cares about it. Will never be the same though with Carol gone.
It’s not open and hasn’t been for several years, but google won’t list it as closed. After the owner passed away, the property fell into neglect. Phone doesn’t work, the lawn isn’t mowed and the hours listed are not correct. Don’t waste your time driving out here, this is no longer a valid business
Cool farm
I took my mother for a visit to the tea room on May 27th and the lawn was overgrown, no cars in the driveway and no business sign. They won’t answer and calls or email. The farm changed hands back in 2014 and it appears they are no longer operating the tea room or the museum portion of the property. Don’t make the trip unless your 100% they are still open
It's closed? We've been coming to Murphy's orchard for more than 10 years and we came today and the lawn is overgrown with a closed sign on the door. It looks like a mess and looks like it won't be open for the 2018 season
Complete bust. No apples, this place has collapsed in the last three years. Don't waste your time.
Not pet friendly. My little chihuahua was attacked by the owners dog. Thank God my husband and our tour guide was there to kick and pull him off before too much damage was done.

No Apples, place has collapsed in last 3 years. Went today and was greeted by a grumpy lady. The fields were not mowed. The lady claimed they just went "organic" and the "drought" was to blame for the apples. However, it was the 2nd year in a row for horrible apple crop. No other things planted like gourds and pumpkins. We went to murphy orchards for 8 straight years to get apples and fall fun times. Sadly, I can report that this farm is done. It will take them a few years to get their farm back to being productive again (if ever). Sad. Very Sad.
Very disappointing. Have visited, and enjoyed, Murphy orchards in the past for apple/pumpkin/gourd picking. Last year seemed "off" yet still thought we'd give them a try this fall. What a waste of time. Rudely "greeted" by a woman who told us "if you want to pick for the experience go ahead but we don't hve much" going onto say "we went organic and then the drought". We took a look around since had already driven 45 minutes, apples were gross and wormy. We left. So disappointing as this been such a nice, enjoyable experience in the past.
Murphy Orchards is amazing! All of the people here are friendly and helpful. Xandy is one of the best folks that I have met in a very long time, and she makes the best Apple Pie jam! It's also a historical site; one of the hiding places for the Underground Railroad. Such a gem of a place!
We went October 2014. We had the tea with those little sandwiches and desserts in the tea room. Quite lovely. My kids loved it. Then we went out and pick about 100lbs of apples between all of us. Price for apples were great. We all had a great time. Going back Columbus Day 2015.
The environment was great, kid and pet friendly. Great shop and local foods. The apples however, are the worst I have ever gotten. We were told they look a little beat up from weather. Come to find out, that they were rather infested with worms. I just had to pull them all out and wash them off, and i found many that had worms crawling all over them. They are filled with worm holes and are all brown on the inside. The only use I have found for them, is taking the non-wormy ones and making apple sauce or baking them into pies and such. Really disappointed with the quality of the apples. I will not be coming back here next year for apples.
