Sourcing fresh local ingredients and serving simple hearty portions really makes a big difference compared to other diners, Mike's Diner does that beautifully. It was surreal how much of a difference that made and I enjoyed my meal even more because of that.
Sometimes, writing reviews can be a chore, but not this time. So the family and I had a rainy weekend in the Catskills. We were heading home, but we needed to eat. I just moved to Catskill; a mile up the road from this fine establishment. After unpacking, my friend and I stopped into Mike's Diner and my initial experience was a feeling of comfort. The rustic atmosphere gave me a sense of warmth and nostalgia. People at the barstool countertop were eating breakfast; conversating amongst themselves while the families and friends at the tables joyfuly did the same.
