Awful food.
Atmosphere: 1
on the website it says that fridays and saturdays they close at 10pm yet we got there a few minutes before 9pm (on a friday) and they said they were closed. :-(
Burgers were tiny, burnt, and flipped over after the cheese was added (so most of cheese was left on the grill). French fries and onion rings were cold and soggy. Overall, well below what we expected of a Chautauqua food establishment.
I have visited this location for 55 years. Its always had ups and down in quality and chioce, but it was ALWAYS open until after events..around 10:30. And always had a wide range of quality ice cream. This year the brand of ice cream is less, the choice half, and worse it closes at 8pm half the week, and 9pm the rest. It has no fit with the rest of life at Chautauqua. Even odder, this must be one of the big money makers for the cafe. Staff can not be the issue, since they have them til 8 or nine , and can pay them to stay a few hours more easily. End of my rave.
The food is terrible and way overpriced. I would avoid this restaurant at all costs. A tiny, bad-tasting hamburger cost me $11 dollars, and a terrible-tasting roast beef sandwich I pulled out a refrigerator cost me $13. On top of this, the burger I ordered took 15 minutes to be prepared and brought to me. I understand that they're short staffed, but that's hardly an excuse when every other restaurant I've been to in the area has been able to get my food out far quicker. The only semi decent thing about this establishment is the ice cream, and that's because they don't make it.
Fresh salads and sandwiches.
A Chautauqua Institution tradition. Have been coming here for as long as I can remember and they are always have great ice cream and friendly staff. The portions are generous. I appreciate that they serve Hershey’s ice cream, instead of Perry’s like many other places on the lake. Will definitely be returning soon!
The service was great and so was the muffins.
i asked the workers for exactly 250 sprinkles in a spoon and literally watched them count out 250 sprinkles. great service.
The only place in the area where I can get Falafel and it's great

The "asian bowl" is not Asian food whatsoever. They need to re-label it.
Really fun cute cafe. Overpriced though
A very nice cafe at Chautauqua Institute. The wait staff could have been a little better.
Good food and nice staff
