The Tepee is a must-visit destination that offers a unique shopping experience and is located on US Highway 20 past the intersection of State Hwy 28 and before Cherry Valley. This family-owned business is a treasure trove of local, handcrafted, and artisan gifts, including Native American-inspired items, sandals, soaps, clothing, and home decor. The owners are friendly and knowledgeable, providing excellent customer service and engaging conversations with visitors.
Originally founded by a fellow from Westchester, The Tepee reflects a rich history, being situated on land settled by the Tonawanda Seneca Nation. The Tepee has been a successful destination, known for its eclectic assortment of goods, including delicious food items like salsas, sauces, and jams. Although one member of the family left to pursue his culinary skills, the remaining owners continue to uphold the legacy of this historical site.
Visitors can enjoy the stunning view from the parking area, which spans for miles over hills, fields, and mountains. The Tepee resembles a metal tepee with modern heating and cooling, and it is open all year round. It offers a mix of generic tourist items and unique locally made products, including quality merchandise with stitched logos. For anyone traveling down Route 20, The Tepee is a perfect stop, providing a fun and interesting experience filled with local history and culture.
