Good wait staff. I got a hamburger over priced. Not a good burger plain no taste. Not really a dinner more high end. I wont be going back

The Silver Star has fantastic food! Their menu has in-season food that is mouth-watering. I got the fried zucchini with marina as an appetizer. It was a perfect amount for sharing and was delicious. Crispy and hot out of the fryer! The entre I got was the Garden Salad and it was huge! Everything was so fresh and the cucumbers were the star of the salad for me. Nothing beats fresh cucumber.

Silver Star was an unexpectedly good find! It was a little off the beaten path, but the food options were varied and good. The brie plate was excellent. Our group really enjoyed the jambalaya special. Though the pond was overgrown with lilies and vegetation, it was still a nice view from dining room. Waitress very jovial. Nice place to enjoy a meal, together.

We had take-out last evenng on the grand re-opening night of the Silver Star ( sometimes known as the Big Chicken) restaurant in Chestertown. We had several aps and a salad so fresh and delicious with house-made dressings that it tasted freshly picked. The aps were off the charts in flavor even with the 15 minute drive to get them home. We had Aaron`s hand breaded fried calamari with tomato sauce for dipping, escargot with a delicious buttery garlic sauce and fresh baguette for mopping up the sauce, and lastly, the muscles which were both tender and plump, and served in a white wine and garlic broth. This sparkling clean and charming restaurant is a must try when you are in the area.

Currently the restaurant is still closed due to COVID. No information as to when they might reopen?? Past visits have been positive and enjoyable.

The restaurant with the giant chicken in the parking lot is the Silver Star. My family got together from all over the United States to visit my grandparents in Pottersville. We had our big group meal here in the room that views the pond outside. It feels very much like the Adirondacks here with the A frame building made of wood with a beautiful view outside the large windows.Definitely a great place for a group. Bridget and Aaron knew we were coming and because my sister and I are vegetarian they made us a special vegan meal. I'm not sure if you called ahead if they would always accommodate or if that is only for friends and family, but it was great.The rest of my family are meat eating Americans so they had their pick of the menu.My mom got a plate of fried clams and everyone at the table loved it and gobbled it down so fast that my mom had to order something else for her dinner.We also got a fruit and cheese platter as an appetizer and it was delicious.My favorite appetizer was the warm loafs of bread with butter. Not much is better than good bread.The view outside of the windows is breathtaking especially at sunset.The restaurant is big enough for large groups and can also be intimate for couples.I recommend coming here for date nights, good food, beautiful views, or family dinner. It is a lot more upscale than most of the other restaurants in the area (like the delis, bars, and general stores), but it is still casual enough to wear your normal clothes.

It is so refreshing to travel North a few miles instead of going into crowded and over- priced Lake George for dinner! Silver Star is a hidden gem along Rt 8 in Chestertown, which is a town filled with travelers from all over who come to relax and unwind in the Adirondack Park. This is a wonderful, cozy place with attentive and friendly staff. The food was delicious and expertly prepared. It came out nice and hot, with superb presentation. I actually ordered a dish that was not even on the menu, thanks to a suggestion by our server. We were very impressed with this restaurant, and will definitely be back!

The Silver Star is right around the corner from our summer home. We consider ourselves extremely lucky! We made automated reservations and showed up a bit early, but we were taken to our reserved table by the window and treated like celebrities. The staff is incredibly friendly and make you feel so appreciated. After ordering two glasses of wine, we looked over the menu and everything sounded so good it was difficult to make a decision. My husband ordered the Shrimp Scampi ($18) made with lots of garlic, herb butter, just the right touch of lemon and served over pasta. Five enormous shrimp came atop of a large bowl of perfectly cooked pasta. I opted for the Broiled Scottish Salmon ($22) also served with herb butter and a balsamic glaze with mashed potatoes and a side of broccoli. Everything arrived hot and within a reasonable period of time. Both were DELICIOUS! We couldn't resist a slice of Apple Pie ($5) , so we asked to split one, kind of on the small side, but very tasty. FYI - they offer gluten free pasta and pizza dough at NO extra charge! That's rare and proves all they care about is making their customers happy. We will definitely be back to try some of the other offerings. I have posted pictures of the menu since I couldn't find one on line and some pictures of our meals.
