I was a patron of Don's Rok in the 70's and 80's so forgive me for the tardiness of my review. Over 3 Genesee Cream Ales for a buck, and on rare occasion 3 shots of peppermint schnapps for the same price, I wrote some phenomenal poetry, albeit yet to be published, because I remain anti-establishment long after the 60's sentiment has faded. Don's Rok sets the standard that all other bars and taverns should aspire to. Leave your preconceived notions at the door - once inside the Rok, its warm embrace will comfort even the coldest CNY winter nights. Don't worry about appearances; the Rok is to be taken in slow - perhaps over a cold Utica Club and a good game of pool. Someone may even play Tom Petty or Creedence on the jukebox. This is one of the absolutely one of the most amazingly awesome-st bars not only in the state, but in the country - it's the oldest continuingly running bar in the county! An old water-hole overlooking on the now-long-gone Chenango Canal and then Railroad and therefore the Erie Canal routes between mines in Pennsylvania and Binghampton, New York and Chicago - it is the warmest dive bar you'll ever see.
