Café Silvia at Magazzino Italian Art

Drove over an hour to come here randomly closed the kitchen in the early afternoon without adjusting their hours online. A group of bikers behind us cycled over 100 miles and refused to serve them either. Don’t come out of your way to come here you may be disappointed with it being closed and watching people eat when your are hungry

Here you will find some of the best food in the area. Everything about Magazzino is of the highest standard, and this cafe is no different. The coffee, the pastry, the pasta, the sandwiches, even the side salad reflect the best things about Italian cooking, excellent ingredients cooked simply and well seasoned. This will be a regular lunch spot for us. Can't wait to try the rest of the menu. The lasagna looks amazing.

I've come here for two of the Viaggio con Luca: The History of Regional Italian Cuisine special events and I have to say I'm blown away on how good the food is. It's fresh, even using ingredients from their garden and sustainably sourced products, flavorful and delicious. Every single dish I've had here was incredible! The coffee is great too. The menu is rotating daily, which I appreciate given the use of fresh and local ingredients. Service is top notch, staff is always willing to give a recommendation and have a good flow, especially for the events. I stop by the cafe every time I'm in the area, even if I'm not visiting the museum. I can't wait to come back!

The cafe is a wonderful lunch spot with fabulous service. We enjoyed our food, wine and the live Italian accordion music. The focaccia is amazing. Grazie Mille a tutti.

Chef Luca from Milano is an incredible artisan. The food and experience at Cafe Silvia’s is always a delight and never disappoints… with ingredients coming fresh from their garden. A true gem of the Hudson Valley!

A friend who worked as a fellow here told me I had to come try Chef Luca’s food. Glad I came- the food and drinks are another level. Chef Luca is crafting some incredible dishes at Cafe Silvia -this truly is a hidden gem in the Hudson River Valley! I have eaten here a few times since last fall and each time is an absolute delight with new things to try— you can taste the high of quality and freshness of each ingredient. The side salad with my first sandwich here really changed how I view salads- it was perfectly dressed -the vinegar used was exceptional and the ratio to acid/ oil was perfection- the show stopper were the salad greens that Chef Luca grew himself in the garden you can see out the Cafe window. Yesterday I tried his Zuppa del giorno which was a carrot and red lentil soup purée with sautéed scallops and shiitake mushrooms drizzled with olive oil- so delicious. My partner tried the Lasagna alla Bolognese and it was an entire plate of wow- “I can’t believe how good this is!”

You can taste the level of care and craft poured into each dish- Chef Luca and his talented team are bringing another caliber of cafe dining and especially Italian farm to table cuisine to New York.

I will never forget on our first visit he came out to talk with us and took time to tell us about sourcing and inspirations of the food we were eating- his passion for his craft is something special. Go try this special place for yourself. They always have new specials to try and a stand out classic menu with staples you can count on- oh and make sure you try his Americano- you won’t regret it.
