Outstanding brewery!!

First visit and it didn’t disappoint. I stuck to their IPA’s since I was told they were good and it was true. Outstanding is more accurate. Tried 3 between my wife and I. All were fantastic. Brought home a couple of 4-packs, too.

The food was awesome, too. I had their chicken sandwich with bacon and guac. Delish! Home made potato chips were cooked to perfection and salted just right. My wife had the quesadilla (they call it something else but that’s what it was) and it was fantastic, too. We loved it and hope to go back the next time we’re in the capital region.

The Vegan was a solid DIPA. We got beers to-go since they are not dog friendly. Wish we could have stayed for the food.

The beer has always been amazing. The food was also 5 stars but lately has not. I ordered a basket of fries for 8.00 and it was mediocre at best. It’s become hit or miss with the food. However the beer is still the best.

My husband is the IPA drinker. He loved everything he tried. We also got the chicken tenders to share. There's more than enough for 2 people to make their main meal! The chicken was crispy and flavorful, as were the dips!

I visited Fidens on Thursday, 5/9 around 12:30 PM. It was not busy at all while I was there. The beer quality is very good but pricey from even the last time I was there in May 2024. It feels like prices are up $1.00 or more per can from just a year ago (when looking at $27 for a 4pk of a Triple IPA) but of course, I walked away with some 4pks. I also miss the ability to purchase per can which was a great business model and more customer friendly. Obviously, other brewers in this quality tier (e.g. Tree House) have gone away from the single can model too so I get it.

The food here is a mixed bag. Some stuff is really good. Others are meh. Their chicken sandwich and Philly steak were meh. Cheese curds, fries, and chicken tenders were all awesome.

Sour beers here are some of my favorite

It was a great place until they decided to change the menu, increase prices, and decrease portions. They got rid of most of the waitstaff and swapped it for more of a cafeteria style food service. You go to the bar and place your order then pick it up yourself. This causes long lines at the bar since food and drinks are now placed in the same spot. They got rid of half of the food items, of course all the things I used to get, and whatever was changed dramatically. I used to love this place, my fiancé and I would go there with our friends all the time, but now I'm not sure its worth it. Fidens, if you read this, please go back to the way things were.

We used to love Fidens and recommended it to out of town guests, we went recently and found out there have been a lot of changes and none of them were for the better. The menu used to be outstanding, now the food is inedible. The changes made to ordering and food delivery are really awful and not consumer friendly. We will not be returning and would recommend others avoid. So disappointing. If anyone knows where the chef ended up, we’d love to find them to continue enjoying their food!

They don’t sell single cans anymore, only 4-packs. Can only order food, drinks AND cans through bartenders, no other points of sale. They either can’t keep staff or have decided labor is too costly and cut back. Either way it’s not working. Started off great but has gone downhill.

This was our go-to for lunch with my work crew, and since they switched menus and changed many other things in there, it has gone down hill. The new menu is absolutely terrible. They didn’t have the vodka seltzer lemonade that they always had as a special, and just the obvious lack of caring from the staff this last visit (3/6/2025) was awful. We tried it after the menu first changed a month ago, and it was not good. We decided to give it one more shot this week and unfortunately it was worse. Sorry but you just lost 5 dedicated customers. Please listen to the customers when they say the changes are not good.

Everything about this place is amazing! Beer is perfect, food impeccable and the can selection is always great! Happy to have them in Albany - much more accessible! Their Nelson beers are the best!!

Though the space is great and the beer and food are good, I will not be returning. Their system for ordering beer and food puts all the burden on the customer. There are no wait staff, which could be fine, but customers are made to get up and order beer at the bar, and separate from that line is another station where you put in your food order. In what according to the person behind me said was a shorter line than normal, there I stood waiting for over 10 minutes to put my order in. Also, the tip screen popped up and the default tip range was 18-25 %. So they don’t provide service but they want the same tip as if they did. Finally, apps and main meal came out at the same time. With so many restaurants to choose from, next time I’ll opt for one w service, or at the very least a more efficient way of ordering food.

The beer is decent but limited (almost entirely IPAs). The food is mediocre and often greasy. The last time we went, we had the wrong food brought to us and a server later came around asking for someone specific because they had messed up her order and didn’t know what table she was at. When they brought our order, they had mixed up the dressings for two of the salads, so I ended up with a southwest salad in a ginger sesame sauce and someone else got the Asian salad with southwest dressing. It doesn’t seem like the kitchen or service staff is very careful so I wouldn’t feel comfortable going here if I had any food allergies or intolerances.

The environment is alright and it can get quite noisy inside, but it’s a little quieter if you go up to the second floor. It’s an okay place to meet up with friends for a casual drink/dinner, but definitely not my first choice. I don’t go unless invited, and I’d prefer not to be invited.

My favorite brewery in the area! The food is very very good. Pictures is the Fidens BBQ wings, poutine with burnt ends and fried green beans.
