Absolutely amazing authentic sushi! The owners are incredibly kind, welcoming, and knowledgeable. We’ve tried sushi all over Long Island, and this is by far the most authentically Japanese sushi we’ve found. You can truly taste the quality and care that goes into every dish. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Takumi Japanese Restaurant is a small, family-run Japanese-speaking hole in the wall with around 18-20 seats and outdoor seating. It is perfect for a date night or a family meal. The food and sushi are outstanding, delicious, fresh, and of great quality and value. Specific dishes praised include the Nabeyaki Udon, Teriyaki shrimp, Beef Negimaki, gyoza, shrimp rolls with crab and crispies, deep fried California rolls, Halibut and Salmon sashimi, and the sushi pizza. Portions are sized perfectly for chopsticks, though some note the sushi rolls are a bit smaller than at other places. The service is friendly and attentive, and can be outstanding, but it can also be slow, especially when busy, with sometimes long waits for attention. Despite this, the experience is very good, and many would definitely go again and highly recommend this gem in San Carlos.
