Chimi Express is a no frills Dominican restaurant. I had a mixed experience with the food here. I tried the longanisa with white rice and red beans. The beans were fine, but the rice was old and hard. The longanisa was overcooked and hard as well. This place actually specializes in Dominican fast food, so getting rice and bean plates here may not be the best bet. The rest of the food I had was of the fast food variety and fared better. I've had Dominican food from many different spots in Queens, Brooklyn, and The Bronx, and Chimi Express is still my favorite. Every dish I've had here is just outstanding. Wayy better carne frita than a certain disorganized yet popular Dominican food truck in the same neighborhood. Whether it's breakfast, lunch, dinner, or late night munchies, this is the spot!
