Sam (waitress) hustled and was pleasant as she handled the entire dining room alone. Food was on point. Atmosphere is downscale but themed to railroads. A good local choice for eggs. Coffee. Pancakes. Etc.

Not a very good breakfast, home fries were barely cooked, I asked for crispy, scrambled eggs, weren't fully cooked either and toast was dry, didn't eat the edges, coffee was basic diner quality and waitress did not smile once. That was a one and done for us.

Cute little place, friendly staff and awesome home
First time here. Heard good things so we planned to meet up with my oldest and his wife. Was not disappointed. I had two eggs, scrambled with sausage links, home fries and English muffin. My girlfriend had French toast. I don't remember what the kids had, but they were happy. Our drinks came in cans, which was cool, but not sure if you get free refills. Still, good homestyle cooking with friendly service.

The Railroad Crossing Diner is a gem of a diner on Route 14 in Dundee, NY. They have options for breakfast that I have never seen for starters. The one that caught my husband's and my eye was the garbage omelette! Ham, sausage, bacon, cheese, onions, peppers, mushrooms, tomatoes , spinach and we asked them to throw our corn beef hash in there. Mmmm. My husband requested no mushrooms. I had a 2-egg omelette. My husband had 3. Phenomenal. It was the best omelette my husband I have ever had, and we've tested many lol. There are choices for bread that I have never seen either: raisin, Italian, 12 grain, and all the regulars as well. Fun little, nicely decorated with the railroad theme, and a history of the railroad on the front of the menu cover. The railroad crossing is just feet from the diner. Wonderful hometown, professional, efficient staff and fun regular older customers. One regular older gentleman said to us as we entered "7 minutes from the time you are seated for your meal to come." He was proud of his hometown diner, sipping coffee at the counter. This place was hopping... apparently for hours. The staff were still smiling, pleasant, and got right to taking care of customers, and flipping over tables for the next customers. They keep the place immaculate and tidy, creamers and sugars refilled constantly. This diner really has the diner experience down to a science. You really need to stop in and enjoy the entire experience. Beautiful memories are made there. FYI no cards accepted, cash only...but they do have an ATM machine right there as soon as you enter.Vegetarian options: You can make your eggs or omelettes any way you want with vegetarian options availableKid-friendliness: There is a high chair available for your little one. Super family friendly atmosphere, little choo chain trains hold creamers ..fun decor and interesting railroad info to discuss with children. Kids menu section states : for little Chuggers"Parking: Large parking lot.

My wife and I are on a weekend getaway to sample the wineries and atmosphere in the Finger Lakes. We were looking for a quick breakfast today. The yahoo reviews were good and we were encouraged by the full parking lot. We sat at the back of the restaurant and were greeted by a funky smell. Bathroom doors were left open and I'm pretty sure the smell was sewage. The service was absolutely terrible. We both ordered similar meals. About ten minutes later, a server (not ours) brought one meal over and asked if it looked like what we ordered. It was not. The food finally came out and it was acceptable though they mixed up our orders and we had to shuffle the meats from one plate to the other. At no point after our meal was served did our server come back to check on us. My wife flagged her down and she brought our check. We asked if we could get more coffee. While she said yes, the answer was, in fact, no. She waited on several other tables and never returned with coffee. We left as fast as we could and went to a local gas station for a cup of coffee.

Were up there for a long vacation with in laws; driving up the highway and the said 'lets try this place' From the road it looked like old "greasy spoon" I remembered as a kid from the 70's. Inside it was small but the staff was friendly and the food was good and portions pretty big. Left there full and slightly impressed. Will probably never be up this way for many more years but if you pass by this place; give it a try.
