I came as a walk in for a tasting, which was only outside and about $25 for two. Their wines are tasty. Multiple staff checked on us. We left with a few bottles.

Had a wonderful tasting here last week and want to give a big special shout out to Victor, who worked with our table of 6 to select some fantastic whites to taste! He was a special server, made our experience really enjoyable and memorable. Thank you!

This is probably the best winery in the finger lakes - every wine was AMAZING. We were truly shocked at the quality of the wines - the experience & quality was similar to what we had in Napa but I actually enjoyed these wines better! This is a must visit if you’re in the finger lakes!

In a place with a ton of wineries and vineyards, this one really stood out! Their main focus is on their wines, and for good reason. Our tasting room associate, Josh, was incredibly knowledgeable and was so happy to explain the differences between the wines and how they were made. We learned a lot and enjoyed some delicious wine!

A Finger Lakes Gem – Hospitality, Heart, and a Little Forklift Flair

Our visit to Hermann J. Wiemer Vineyard was nothing short of magical — a perfect blend of world-class wine, welcoming people, and the rustic charm that makes the Finger Lakes so special.

From the start, Victor and Dawn were absolute stars — warm, professional, and incredibly knowledgeable. They guided us through our tasting with grace and enthusiasm, making sure our group (a mix of clients and friends) felt both taken care of and fully immersed in the wines. Every pour came with a story, and every question was met with thoughtful, insightful answers.

Then there was Oskar, the owner — what a host! His hospitality was genuine, and his depth of knowledge about the region and the winery’s legacy added so much richness to the experience. In the tasting room, we especially appreciated the beautifully detailed map on display — something Oscar helped develop — which totally captivated the wine nerds in our group. It featured everything from lake depths to vineyard plots and grape varieties, tying together the region’s unique terroir in the most engaging way.

And the grounds… wow. Wandering around the vineyard felt like stepping into a pastoral postcard. Bees buzzing, ducks waddling, geese honking, and chickens strutting — it was a full sensory experience of the Finger Lakes. Charming, natural, and completely authentic.

Now, we can't leave without mentioning one final highlight: watching the very attractive winemaker gracefully operate a forklift like it was a dance. We won’t pretend it didn’t add a little extra sparkle to our day. Who knew heavy machinery could be so… captivating?

All in all, Hermann J. Wiemer delivered on every level — stunning wines, impeccable service, and an experience we’ll be talking about (and recommending) for a long time. A must-visit if you're in the region.

If you only come to one winery in the Finger Lakes, make sure it is Hermann Wiemer. Victor was incredible as our wine educator, he fed off of our enthusiasm and made the visit unforgettable. Oscar answered our numerous questions with detail and grace, and Dawn supplemented the experience with warmth and hospitality. Easily the most sophisticated wines we tasted on our visit. 5 stars, wish I could hand out more. Incredible. Come try for yourself.

Very happy we decided to stop here!
It seems like they may encourage reservations, but got us in right away without one.
We enjoyed some local cheese, meat, and honey-roasted almonds as I sipped on samples of some of their delicious wines. I would highly recommend their dry Rieslings, super tasty!

We visited 5 wineries in the Finger Lakes district and this was by far our favorite wine. While they have lots of award winning Reislings, we were in the mood for reds. Their Blaufrankish and Cab Francs were delicious. We had a terrific tasting experience and would definitely recommend HJW.

One of our favorites on Seneca. Emphasis is clearly on the quality of the wines and sustainable growing practices. Tasting experience is a bit more formal than other wineries, with very knowledgeable staff. Beautiful facility, but would recommend putting a diaper changing table in one of the bathrooms.

Wine was okay. Service was poor. Very slow. Saw another table get up and leave because they waited so long.

We were super bummed by how this place treated us. Despite the website not saying reservations were required, the staff made multiple passive aggressive comments about us not having one. We also saw everyone around us all served water with glasses, instead we were served with plastic cups. I heard another staff person speaking down to other wineries in the area. Usually we get recommendations to our next stop, so hearing that as well was definitely disappointing.

We had a positive experience, and my friend especially loved it here. She works in hospitality and has pretty high standards when it comes to wine, so this was a must-visit for her while we were in town.

They primarily offer drier wines, but I appreciated that there were a few sweet to semi-sweet options too. My personal favorites were the NS Riesling Josef 2016 dessert wine (tastes like honey!), the Riesling Late Harvest 2023, and the Riesling Semi-Dry 2023. I ended up buying bottles of the two Rieslings to take home.

The staff was excellent—very knowledgeable and incredibly patient with all of my friend’s (many) questions. The atmosphere had a modern, rustic vibe that was very inviting.

If you're a wine connoisseur, this might be a great stop for you. It wasn’t a perfect match for my palate, but I still had a great time and found a couple wines I really liked!

We have been to innumerable wineries and didn't need help with our tasting at all. Neil (?) was excellent in giving us our space, but then even bringing out a library tasting of the Cab. Franc. Very nice Reislings, and the Cab. Franc was a nice surprise. Very nice to be able to get only one oz pours. Excellent visit!

This was my favorite winery on a private tour taken in June 2025. The wines were all favorites. The education and explanation of process is key for me and Juan did an excellent job on all of it. We truly enjoyed our visit here.
