Hương Xuân is a Vietnamese restaurant in Jackson Heights that has been a neighborhood spot for years, formerly known as Thai Son/Thái Sơn. The restaurant is clean, casual, and unassuming, with very friendly staff who greet guests with a smile and provide personal attention. Walk-ins are accommodated. The prices are reasonable, making it a good choice for a fast and easy meal.
The menu offers many dishes. The BBQ and Banh Hoi dishes are recommended, including Bo Lui (grilled sesame-seasoned beef), Thit Heo Nuong (grilled pork), Ga Nuong (chicken), Suon Heo Nuong (pork chop), and Nem Nuong, which is a must try and not available at all Vietnamese restaurants. The Ca Kho To (caramel fish casserole) is pricey but excellent. Other options include the Marinated Beef Cubes over Salad, vegetables stir-fry, spring rolls, Goi Cuon, Goi Tom Du Du, crispy squid, Rau Muong Xao Toi (water spinach with garlic), Pho Xao Do Bien (mixed seafood chow fun), and the Vietnamese Chicken Banh Mi Sandwich with a good portion of chicken and crunchy bread. Pho was astounding and calamari were cooked perfectly. The grill pork and noodles soup number 1 is a favorite. The flavors are fine, and the food is delicious.
