“I thought I didn’t have cash on me and the owner offered my little one a free cookie after I told her I left my money. That in itself deserves 5 stars. I found my cash shortly after but he refused to take the money so I placed it in the tip jar. Since this incident we have been a loyal customer and will stop by for a cookie or two every Thursdays. Thank you so much for your kind heart and for making my little one smile. We also love the strawberry cakes!“

“Asian Taste 86 is a gem in the heart of Elmhurst, Queens! This authentic Indonesian spot serves up incredibly flavorful dishes, and the warm, friendly vibe makes you feel right at home. It’s a popular spot, so expect a crowd and sometimes a bit of a wait—but trust me, it’s worth it.
Occasionally, they may ask you to switch tables to accommodate new guests, but with food this good, I don’t mind at all. Every time I visit, I clear my plate! The beef rendang is a standout—so tender and packed with flavor. Highly recommend this place!“

“Lhasa Liangfen in Elmhurst is a hidden gem for traditional Tibetan food! The butter tea is rich, the liangfen is cool and spicy with a perfect kick, and the momos are tasty. Super cozy spot with good service. Definitely worth checking out if you’re craving something unique and authentic!“

“Since we got to know this place with my partner, we haven't stopped visiting it ☺️ The food is very delicious, excellent prices and service. The Ice Te Chai is Yummy and the mango sticky rice dessert can't be missed. Pad Thai is our favorite dish. The dumplings are perfect. Soups and rice. It's my favorite restaurant just a few minutes from my house ?“

“We were just in the area looking for somewhere to eat and stumbled across Taste of China. So glad we came here. Tasty food at a reasonable price and we did not have to wait too long even though the red was busy. Several Chinese families eating here which is always a good sign. I’ll be back! Thank you“

“Great atmosphere and friendly service! The steak was definitely good, and I’d recommend it. However, the Brussels sprouts were way too oily, practically dripping in oil. Also, the wine pairing could have been better. But overall, good food, great vibe, and excellent service.“

“Rainbow Bakery (and Dim Sum) is a great, affordable spot for fresh bakery treats, with prices that beat other options in the area, including Fay Da.
The rice rolls are the highlight here: very thin and silky, they’re a must-try.
The bakery bread is decent and consistent – not the best I’ve had, but it’s fresh and gets the job done. The coffee milk tea is also solid. Their mochi donuts are tasty, though a bit too sweet. And there’s a combo deal to get $1 off a mochi donut if you purchase a large drink.
Overall, it’s a reliable choice for quick, budget-friendly bites.“

“Shanghai people are not very adaptable to the name change. It is originally Shanghai style, and it does have Shanghai flavor. It tastes like home. After all, the boss is also a Shanghainese. I don’t know why Shanghai cuisine’s four dishes and one soup were directly renamed Wenzhou Restaurant. . Now back to dine in. Five years ago, food cost five yuan, but now it has risen to eight yuan. It’s not easy for everyone.“

“9/27/2024: (Update #2)
My favorite spot to get boiled dumplings in Elmhurst! I’m a bit biased - I grew up in this neighborhood, so Lao Bei Fang is very nostalgic to me. When you see the bright red awning, you know you’re at the right spot. The pork and leek boiled dumplings here are very hearty, meaty, and super juicy. They’re thicker-skinned dumplings which are definitely going to leave you full. Came here last week with my husband for a fast, casual experience with cafeteria-style seating and good dumplings. A box will fill you up quick in this no-frills restaurant. Don’t forget to load up on the chili oil, soy sauce, and hot sauce!
2024 pricing-
? $3 for (4) pork & leek fried dumplings
? $6 for (8) pork & leek boiled dumplings

Still cash only & we noticed that the prices for the dumplings haven't increased for a couple of years now! My fiance and I ordered the #1 Pork & Leek Fried Dumpling (8 pieces, $4.25), #2 Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings (8 pieces, $4.25), and #44 Scallion Pancakes w/ Beef ($4.50). Had a pretty mediocre meal at Lao Bei Fang Dumpling House last night though. The fried dumplings were much too charred and dry, compared to the previous times we've had meals here. The scallion pancake was not appetizing at all, being too thick and flavorless. The limp lettuce and the 2 thin beef circles didn't go well together either. At least the Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings were still good - next time we'll just stick with multiples of that dish!

Lao Bei Fang Dumpling House is always a good comfort food stop, if you're in the mood for some delicious greasy foods. My boyfriend and I came here after a day of rock climbing and it really hit the spot. We ordered the #1 Pork & Leek Fried Dumpling (8 pieces, $4.25), #2 Pork & Leek Boiled Dumplings (8 pieces, $4.25), and #28 All-in-one House Special Hand-Pulled Noodle Soup ($8.75). Filling, good portions, and reasonably priced. Street parking could be a bit tricky, but is available (metered and free). Cash only, and they call your number when your order is ready!“
