“The spot for Taiwanese food in NYC. The pics speak for the menu itself. Every dish has its own spice or flavor to it. They also offer ample drinks selection - with my fave being the one that features the Joe? Strongly recommend booking in advance bc you’ll need hefty luck to get a walk-in “
“My husband and I were visiting from Seattle and had been told this was a must try and we were not disappointed. The restaurant itself is busy but cozy and cool. Every dish we had was incredible. Scott and his front of house staff were an absolute delight. It was our anniversary and they definitely made us feel special. We'll be back for sure! Pro tip - make a point to hit their bakery across the street as well. The mochi donut is where it's at.“
“Pecking House had some of the best fried chicken I have had in recent times. It was elevated and you could tell there is an extra level of sophistication to their chicken. Different flavors, different techniques and some Asian fusion aspects that pair so perfectly well with the classic American style fried chicken. Cornbread was excellent, dirty fried rice was also superb and the chili chicken sandwich really hit the spot. Can't wait to return to Pecking House in the future! Service was also excellent; super attentive and next level for a more casual place like this one. Don't sleep on the Peanut butter pudding!“
“Mama Lee is truly one of a kind. Cooking is her passion and it comes through in the dining experience. Food was great and service was above and beyond. A home cooked meal in Brooklyn. She even packed our kids extra soup to go.Kid-friendliness: Mama Lee went out of her way for our kids with complimentary soup, chicken salad, and lemonade.“
“The best thing about the restaurant is the old lady that owns the restaurant! Absolutely! Adorable and soo sweet! The beef noodle dish was so5 stars for 5 seasons1. Owner is sweet! Sweetest old lady you’ll ever meet!2. Beef noodle dish was perfection! Super flavorful, noodle texture perfect! Beef was so tender!3. Price was amazing!4. Fast service! Super!5. Location was good! Not the best!“
“The portions were really big and the chicken sandwich was delicious. you can tell the chicken was fried fresh and the sauce was so tasty on the soft bun. the beef noodle soup was also super flavorful and the meat was tender. good quick, casual meal.“
“As you walk in the Restaurant, you immediately get a homey atmosphere in this place! The food was served very quickly. The Authentic Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup is excellent as the broth is very thick and flavorful. The beef that they use is half tendon half meat, which is the best combo that a merchant can use when preparing this dish! Overall, the food is excellent! I would definitely come back again! As a bonus, their pickled cabbage and peanuts side dish are excellent too!“
“I really enjoyed my visit to 886, which has been on my list for a while! The Notorious TFC was a standout dish. The fried chicken was very juicy and generously sized. The slaw in the sandwich had a really refreshing slaw. The beef noodle soup was pretty good, although I think the broth was a bit too thick. The service was fast and I liked that the restaurant had a lot of cute Taiwanese decor. I would like to come back to try their drinks, which sound really good.“
“So excited for a Taiwanese spot in Bushwick! The beef noodle soup was flavorful and had a good amount of meat. Wasn’t crazy about the tofu and egg, but would try the oyster mushrooms and other menu items next time.Self-service style. Casual and cute vibes.“
“Very good dumplings, the braised beef was phenomenal too. Was kinda annoyed as I waited awhile but it was definitely worth it. Looking forward to trying the noodle next time.Do yourself a favor and skip wah fung and don't be a cheapskate and come here.“
“I've been taking my friends here for years and this is right across from my office. My favorite is the dan dan noodle. The staff is also very attentive and kind. I came back after picking up my food to ask for a to-go box and though they were super busy the guy remembered me and asked why I was back. When I mentioned I needed to-go container they checked which dish I got, and they communicated that quickly to each other and got me the box, and 2 bags to hold it (I had a lot of noodles/chili oil so it was double wrapped to stop things from spilling).I appreciate that they have such good food and are so attentive even when they're so busy!“
“We ordered several dinner dishes to go and were happy with all dishes we ordered. We liked that the meat dishes were all meats and not with half vegetables underneath to take up space. The flavors of all the dishes were very good. We really liked the food and looked forward to try their sister restaurant named Ok Ryan soon.“
“Wanted to try a Taiwanese style restaurant, it was so good. The flavors are really there and everything tastes great. We ordered 4 things- beef noodle soup (very tender and the noodles and the soup were so flavorful)- salt and pepper chicken was so crunchy- we got a lamb with vegetables plate (very sweet and savory)- pig intestines (so crunchy and delicious!)Overall experience 10/10 would come again“
“I visited I'Milky with friends after a hotpot dinner in Chinatown! It wasn't too busy inside (Sunday night) and there was plenty of seating for everyone. it was a great place to sit, enjoy our drinks, and chat about before we separated.I would definitely recommend I'Milky. I ordered a large fresh milk taro with boba. The boba was sweet and chewy, but the star was really the fresh taro! It isn't the stereotypical taro drink, which usually comes out as purple (and most real taro I've seen aren't purple but a milky white color). You can't adjust the sugar in the drink, but I honestly thought the sugar in the drink itself was perfect! I was always really excited to drink up real taro chunks and found the milk really frothy and a great complement to the taro. The drink was a bit pricey at about ~$10 after tax, but definitely a special treat. I'd get this drink again, but there were many other items on the menu that I really want to try!“
“Wheel cake is a delightful treat that is popular in Japan, Taiwan, and South Korea. It features a round and crispy outer shell made from batter. The cake is filled with a wide range of flavors, ranging from sweet options like custard, butter taro, and red bean, to savory choices such as tuna corn salad and sautéed cabbage. We will make wheel cakes and invite people to taste. Attendes can also have a try.“
“4.5/5! Came here with my friend on a weekend afternoon and there was a short line but the line moved pretty quickly. I got their milk tea + two rice balls combo and I chose the oolong black milk tea with bubble for the milk tea and the tempura shrimp and fried chicken for the rice ball toppings. Their oolong black milk tea with bubble was probably my favorite bubble milk tea in the city. The tea was very high quality for a bubble tea place and I loved how the bubbles were not overly sweetened. The rice balls on the other hand were only okay. I felt like there were not enough toppings in the rice ball and the rice ball were also not pressed firmly when they were made and they were falling apart when I ate them and created a mess. Highly recommend this place for their bubble tea but probably not the food!“
“Generally, the food here is decent; but the one thing that keeps bringing me back (despite the steep price, as compared to what one might pay in Taiwan) is their fan tuan. If they were cheaper, I'd probably be here several times more often. The rice is perfect, and the yo tiao is so perfectly crispy.“
“Delicious food for very reasonable prices! We got the Taiwanese Burger (Pork), the Popcorn Chicken Noodle, and the Beef Shanghai Noodle, which were all quite flavorful and authentic. Seating is somewhat limited because the space is shared with several other restaurants, but other than that it was a nice experience overall.“
“Alright, with all the Yelpers reviews of this Boba Tea shop; figured got to give this place a try while in Flushing Queens. The main attraction is the starchy Boba balls made fresh and churned daily in that sweet brown sugar sauce. Ordered the Iced Brown Sugar Boba Tea;wait time was just about ten minutes. Because it's still Winter weather- drinks with no ice cost an additional quarter. My drink tasted really good- the boba itself was still warm; gave the drink some extra warmth. The texture of the boba was bouncy and chewy- and has that great brown sugar after taste. The drink was a bit too milky- watched the clerk pour so much lactaid milk into my cup. Overall, boba tastes better in the Winter time“
“A tea place that is more traditional herbal style rather than milk/Boba. I got thr osmanthus oolong tea. It personally was not my favourite taste but I can definitely taste the herbal osmanthus so it does not just taste like sugar water like most other tea places.“
“food tastes amazing!!! the chinese food is great and the buffet looks nice. as usual i ordered the beef noodle soup and it didn't disappoint me... there were plump pieces of beef, carrots, vegetables, thick noodles, and the most wonderful salty soup. the wontons also tasted good but the wonton skin was too thick, it could be good for dumplings but not wontons. the bowls are huge so we ate some here and took them back home. this place is also pretty crowded in the mall and you might have to wait for people to finish eating to sit down. ???? ?“
“A cozy Taiwan restaurant in Bayside with high quality price ratio.Highlight: 5 mins to Cross Island Parkway exit 31w.Note: Cash only. Venmo/Zelle not available.Must-try: Lu Rou Fan 卤肉饭,Taiwanese Salt Pepper Popcorn Chicken 盐酥鸡Recommendation: Gua Bao刈包, beef in Niu Rou Mian 牛肉面Food: We ordered Lu Rou Fan (braised pork rice), Gua Bao (meat bun), Niu Rou Mian (beef noodles), and salt pepper popcorn chicken. The best part is how tender and soft the meat is, even the fatty parts melt in your mouth. They offer two types of rice, Lu Rou Fan and Khong Rou Fan. Gua Bao uses the same Khong Rou in Khong Rou Fan. Khong Rou is a large piece of meat with fat and lean parts. Gua Bao uses crushed peanuts and sugar on the meat. If you like big bites of meat, you will probably like this texture. Note that it is relatively greasy compared to other dishes. The crispy fried chicken is quite tender, but a bit salty. The beef in the beef noodles is top-notch, sadly the noodles are too soft and lack chewiness. My personal favorite is Lu Rou Fan. It has pickled cucumbers inside with a slightly sour but refreshing taste to balance the greasiness. The sportion of food is another highlight. It is more filling than it looks.Price: It is beyond my expectation. We were so full and even had leftover to bring home, while we spent less than $30 per person.Parking: they have parking lot in front of the restaurant, but spaces are limited.“
“A fantastically authentic Taiwanese food experience! This place is where I frequent when I long for my comforts of home away from home. Their stink tofu is pungent and the real deal, perfectly fried with some cabbage garnish. I love their snow cabbage with tofu or fish edamame, perfect to pair with fried rice or knife shaved noodle soup. Don’t miss their jian bing/scallion pancake rolled with egg and basil or beef! You really can’t go wrong, every table around us was really happy with what they ordered! This is a cash only, no frills, mom and pop kinda place, where they serve hot oolong tea with every meal and the food truly speaks for itself.Vegetarian options: Decent vegetarian options, about 10 or so total“
“Stopped by at a new second avenue location at 1623 second avenue. They offer a wide variety of eat in or take out food that is easy to eat or make. The product has choices of fried, boiled sandwiched or soup dekendung on your mood. Delivery through grub hub app and a welcome addition to the upper east side food scene“
“It was a little tight seating wise but also one of the only places in the area I could find with seating. The price to seating size was almost perfect and it was some of th3 best fried rice I've ever had. The dumplings I stole off my partners plate were good too :^)They have self order kiosks so if you wanted to you would t if had to talk to anyone. It was fantastic and a great place to chill out at the end of a long day of walking“
“Great spot for chicken and tea. I got the partea meal with soy garlic chicken, Cajun fries, and a yakult drink. The sandwich was amazing. It's a chicken thigh, so it's more flavorful and tender, not dry at all. The fries were pretty good, which is something coming from me. And the yakult drink was my favorite. The partea meal also comes with a little toy, which was cute. The establishment also has a bunch of games, but I didn't get time to play any. Fantastic spot to grab a nice dinner to go.Parking: Parking lots in the area.“
“Fried rice with pork chop was pretty nice in terms of flavor. For what is literally fried pork, it wasn’t as greasy as I initially anticipated. Minor complaint I had about the dish though was that it was still pork chop whose bone needs to be separated by some knifing. To do that on the top of the rice was bit inconvenient and annoying.Cucumber dish was nice side kick to the rice dish.Another minor complaint I had was about the restaurant’s temperature. On the day I visited, outside was like 0 celsius and inside felt like 15 celsius. It wasn’t cold but I hoped it was warmer especially when I were to be served with ice cold water.Kinda want to try and evaluate how they made their version of kimchi as a Korean but overall my gut feeling is that I will feel somewhat lazy and hesitated to revisit here.밥과 고기의 맛 자체는 괜찮았으나 막 또 먹으러 오고 싶은 정도인지는 좀 잘 모르겠습니다. 김치를 small dish로 팔길래 궁금하기는한데… 오이 small dish는 오이김치 안 매운 버전인데 밥 옆에 반찬으로 딱이었습니다.“
“Meh Wah no frills Taiwanese fast food on Hester ST.The good:- extremely fair price for very decent fast food- pork chops are very large and juicy- hot and sour soup is very good- they have a protein with a side of italian spaghetti, i didn't think i would like this, but it was quite good- the server is very nice and expedientThe not so good:- there wasn't a lot to pick on:- fried rice cake a bit blandother than that, all in all, fantastic value for the quality of the food, a very good budget option.“
“I pass this all the time and was super interested in the menu because they had a lot of Taiwanese street foods. I got the popcorn chicken and was surprised at how crispy it was. The chicken was a little dry but the seasoning was good. I definitely want to go back to try the other things on the menu.“
“Was craving Duck (Blood) Noodles after having it in Taiwan. I ordered delivery, so can't judge on the service. The duck was a bit on the dry side, but the soup was very flavorful! I let the duck blood soak in the soup to rehydrate. They give a perfect amount of toppings and noodles. Would like to try it in the restaurant to see see if it's less dry when made fresh. I did add a bit of homemade spicy oil to give it a kick and boost the flavor even more. The Taiwanese Sausage is generously sized and delicious. Worth getting for sure!Overall, a solid Taiwanese spot. Would like to try out their other dishes.“
“Grandma was a very nice person. One night at 8:30, the store was already closed, so I called to place an order with the intention of giving it a try, but she still helped prepare the meal. Later I asked my grandma, and she said that it was closed, but the pot was still hot, but she tried her best to cook. I work outside and am warmed by my grandma’s kindness? The rice is delicious, and the soup, whether salty or sweet, is delicious.“
“Oh my god I don’t know where to begin I never had Taiwanese chicken before I only seen pictures on Instagram so when I saw how huge the size of the cutlet was when they gave it to me I couldn’t believe my eyes now when you see the price you might clutch your wallet butttttt for 8.99 it is worth it the cutlet is so huge it is a meal in itself and the chicken is so well marinated that it retains its juices there’s many ways you can order it you can order it plain and/or also get powder seasoning on top. Now I ordered the sweet chili cutlet and I was a little disappointed when I found out you can only get powder on the plain one but after trying the sweet chili cutlet I understood why it doesn’t need anything else it’s amazing by itself. So come here order a cutlet and wash it down with some bubble tea I ordered the mango sago my only complaint is I wouldn’t got it without milk had I known it was in there and if they had a vegan cutlet option that would be nice but I’m definitely coming back as a regular.“
“I went to the Four Four SV in Hells Kitchen. I had a very upset stomach and had some pretty bad stomach issues for the last 24 hours. I ordered the beef noodles and my stomach felt 100% better within about 15 minutes. It literally cured me of all GI problems I had over the last 24 hours. I lived in HsinChu, Taiwan for a year in the mid 90s. This is the first real Taiwan noodle soup I've had since then. Delicious! Thank you!“
“There are enough stations! So good! There is a parking lot and the price is very reasonableThe landlady is also very kind! It’s not just that the hotpot is deliciousOther side dishes and braised pork rice are also super deliciousBig tweet ??????“
“A typical no-frill, cash only asian establishment in Elmhurst. Just to be clear: this is TAIWANESE restaurant incase their name was clear enough. I’ve been coming to this joint since forever and oh god i miss the old times when i used to live close by and prices were lower. Their dishes have always been excellent and portions are generous. Again, cash-only!“
“We got the brown sugar pearl milk tea and the lemon iced tea, plus some little rice balls as a snack.Perfect place to drop in and get some takeaway. Prompt service and the drinks have a good ratio of sweetness to flavour. We were only in Williamsburg for a week but we came back here multiple times. It’s open late so we could drop by on the way back from an event.“
“Stopped here for a late lunch after walking through Corona Park. Excellent food, friendly staff. If you are a tourist, skip Chinatown in lower Manhattan and go to Flushing, Queens instead. The area of Main St from 60th Ave to 40th is filled with restaurants, stores and food markets.“
“This place is amazing. All the food is absolutely delicious and the staff is wonderful and welcoming. It's a great place to bring kids, family and friends toy won't be disappointed. Besides that this place is very affordable and budget friendly. I can recommend this all and everyone I know. Thank you Lucky for providing us with delicious food and amazing service. I look forward for the next meal and dinning.“
“Stopped by around 1h30 pm for lunch on a rainy, rainy day - there was only one other person eating there (who I later realised was one of the employees). I ordered the railroad pork chop bento (懷舊鐵路便當). While I was waiting for the food, I noticed the big box of cardboard boxes in the corner, which - if my experience eating Taiwanese cuisine means anything - was definitely a green flag. It's overall a clean interior with not many seats; I'm not sure how busy it gets, but maybe most people order takeaway. My food came out in a classic round box - uncovered since I wanted to dine-in. It smelled SO good - a mix of the quintessential Taiwanese flavours of pork chop, minced pork sauce over rice, and the stir-fried 高麗 Taiwanese cabbage. The pork chop was really yummy, although it was less crispy than I expected. The meat was juicy and tender but a bit lacking small relative to the amount of rice/veggies.I love Taiwanese cabbage so much, and it's actually surprisingly difficult to find in restaurants in NYC, even Taiwanese places (well, at least well-/traditionally-cooked Taiwanese cabbage). There was so much cabbage and it was SO delicious - I wolfed down each and every leaf. Tasted just like it was from the corner 自助餐 places I'd go to in Taiwan.Rice came in a good portion size, and overall I think this was the perfect size for one person to eat. Although, I will just quote the NYT here as an aside: "At Taiwan Bear House, each bento costs less than $10 and is fuel for a day. (In Taiwan, it would be less than $3.)" Well, it came out to around $14 today, and last I checked, it was slightly over $3 in Taipei now.Jokes aside, though, I'm well aware that NYC is NYC and the costs are just different; and for bento like this in America, I'm happy to pay this "premium" lol. I'd love to come by to try some of the other bentos and sides; if the pork chop rice was this good, I'm sure everything must be super yummy, too! A few more visits and it might have become my favourite TW place in NYC :)“
“The best restaurant in New York, and the lady boss is also nice. The most important thing is that the milk tea in this store is full of details. The pearls are of two different sizes, which enriches the taste and keeps the taste from boring. Last time I ordered the Flaming Mountain Brown Sugar Milk. They also paid attention to details, adding sea salt cream on top and grilling it with flames...it was really perfect. This time it was Yangzhi Manna and Mango Thick Milk. I was amazed again. Oh my god, it tastes really good. Those who read negative reviews are telling lies with their eyes closed. Don’t believe it. This store is worth traveling half an hour to try!“
“Great hole in the wall located near 8th avenue. Highly recommend ordering in advance and picking up as parking is your typical street parking experience.Delicious food, great value for your money, friendly and efficient staff.I’ve already had food from here more than 5 times and I’d still continue to return. It’s so healthy and filling.CASH ONLY.“
“One of my favorite places in all of Flushing! The braised rice bowls, sesame chicken soups, and beef noodle soups are all amazing! Also great for Taiwanese popcorn chicken. I have been told the braised pork rice bowl is the best item, but unfortunately I do not eat pork.I usually order on Uber Eats, but the restaurant is clean with great service and in a central location. Food comes out lightning fast. They are also open late night. If you're looking to try Taiwanese food, check out Four Four!“
“Chun Yang Tea offers over 42 different beverages to choose from. Small but there is room for two tables with chairs. There are stools for additional seating at the window. I ordered the winter melon drink which was pretty delicious and refreshing.“
“Four Four South Village is an affordable Taiwanese spot with quick service. Went on a Saturday for lunch time and we were the only guests there, so we were seated immediately and service was very fast. Service was quick, quality of service was ok - This is an in and out type of place. The restaurant is spacious and you don't feel crammed at all, unlike many places in the area. Started off with the Jade Cucumber and Spiced Edamame. Both solid - if you are going to share the starters, get 2+ since the starters are portioned small. Got the Noodles with Beef & Braised sauce. The noodles were thick and tasty and the sauce was good. Recommend asking for some soy sauce and pouring a generous amount in - It really elevated the flavor and took the dish up a notch.“
“Very classic Taiwanese snacks, various fried foods! Delicious street food! The service attitude is very friendly and enthusiastic. They patiently answered all my questions. There will be a lucky draw before the Chinese New Year! discount event! !Great for takeout or pick-up!Supports multiple payment methods!Taiwan’s famous snack is indispensable: legend popcorn chicken. The meat is not dry or dry, and it is fried just right! Coated with Taiwanese flavoring!I personally recommend: Taiwanese caviar sausage, which is crispy, fragrant and full of umami! The dining environment is a bit small (^スv^)?“
“Braised pork rice and popcorn chicken are top notch, very delicious! The boss lady taking orders was very friendly, service was great. Higher recommended, would totally go back again! The Taiwanese black tea was so really good (and not too sweet), it was perfect and the way I liked it.Pork rice, crispy salted chicken, shredded kelp and shredded potatoes are all super delicious. The black tea is delicious! The boss lady is super nice. Highly recommended!“
“Located in the Urbanspace W 52nd food hall, Bao by Kaya sells large portions of noodle dishes, served up rice bowl style. The food hall was fairly busy on a Thursday afternoon. My wife and I decided to get noodle bowls, so we ordered two: Dan Dan Noodles and Szechuan Beef Noodles, both priced at $14.99 each. Once paid, you would wait for a bit (5 minutes) and then pick up your tray once they call out your name. The lunch crowd was clearing out, so we were able to find seating for 4 at the upper dining hall. Both dishes came in plastic to-go bowls, and was very generous in serving size (if I could do it again, I would have just ordered one noodle bowl and maybe got one bao to taste). The thick rice noodles are obviously fresh, and are a great conduit for the sauce to stick to. One small issue was that the dishes had ingredients that normally would not be in the dish, if strictly following the name. I really liked the Szechuan Beef: there was 6 thicks slices of braised beef shank and liberal use of peanut sauce with pickled vegetables..but not sure why that would be considered Szechuan. The Dan Dan noodles....not really, which I think threw my wife for a loop. It used peanut sauce, plus had a lot more ingredients than mentioned on the menu (e.g. hard boiled egg, pickled vegetables like carrots and fresh veggies like kale and red cabbage), along with a white sauce I couldn't place my finger on. One bowl would have been plenty for the two of us for lunch, and since we didn't want to carry around food for the rest of the day, we sadly had to throw about half of it away. It would have been absolutely a great meal the next day (for me at least).“
“This place was always crowded so I was curious. Ordered fried stinky tofu, oyster pancake, and beef fried rice. All was tasty! Decent portion, definitely can share for two per plate. My favorite was beef fried rice, it was light and not so greasy. Fried stinky tofu was savory and served with sour cabbage which was refreshing. Oyster pancake came soft. Price was fair, all under 10$ each for my order. They also have lunch special. The service was quick enough, and the staffs are helpful & friendly. You can come in large groups, there were big round tables. Would recommend!“
“i think some people already said the broth/noodles lacked salt. i think just by adding some salt, it would really help the broth. portions were good for the price. i think some people were complaining about the portion vs price were getting delivery and the apps are always more $$ that dining in. otherwise the noodles were cooked well and i was full by the end of my meal. i'd go back and hope they add some salt to the broth.“
“We were all very impressed with the food, service, and atmosphere. The food was absolutely delicious. We tried a variety of dishes, including the Hainanese chicken, the Fujianese fried noodle, and the Indian pancake. Everything was cooked perfectly and the flavors were amazing. My daughter especially loved the chicken and rice, and my brother raved about the noodleThe service was also excellent. Our server was very friendly and attentive, and she made sure that we had everything we needed. She even brought out a high chair for my daughter and a coloring book to keep her entertained. The atmosphere was very pleasant. The restaurant is clean and well-maintained, and the staff is very welcoming. It was a great place to bring my family for a casual meal.Overall, we had a wonderful experience at Peninsula Malaysian Cuisine. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was pleasant. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great Malaysian meal.“
