As a submarine sandwich connoisseur. I try as many different locations as I can in search of a great submarine sandwich. While not the greatest, South Side Sub shop is acceptable. The best sub on their menu is the jumbo sub. It has cooked ham, chopped ham and salami on it. I get it with mayo, lettuce,tomato, onions , banana peppers and Italian dressing.One major thing I don't like is they use chopped onions. A submarine sandwich to me should have thinly sliced onions. Take out only. Cold Subs are great. Everything was very fresh. Very good rolls. Asked for oil & vinegar instead of mayo. They put both which made it soggy but it was still good.
The Southside Sub Shop has been a family favorite since childhood. On our last trip I was rather disappointed. I felt as if I had ordered a bread and lettuce sub. Portions were NOT what they used to be. Prices have gone up (but what HASN'T). Well, I decided to give the Sub Shop another chance. This time we ordered doubled meat. It was the sub I remembered from long ago! Although you shouldn't have to pay extra just to receive what was once the norm, I definitely recommend...
