I bought a pie in June and it was the best pizza, hands down, I’ve had in the triple city area. Couldn’t finish it all so I froze 2 slices with the foodsaver and just reheated tonight in the microwave, and then hit it in the cast iron pan to crisp up the dough and it was like the day it was served. S & M Groceries & Delicatessen is an old school Italian American corner deli, a little piece of "little Italy" with old school deli charm. Years of love and hard work have gone into this place, a surviving mom and pop shop. It is a real deli deli and a hidden gem in the market.
The subs are absolutely the best in the region and the triple cities, with delicious meatball, chicken parm, and eggplant parm sandwiches. They do not skimp on the mayo and sub sauce; what is normal here would be extra anywhere else, so it is definitely not a dry sub. The chicken parm and chicken cutlet sandwiches are exactly what some miss from home. Their frozen meals and gnocchi are top notch, and the Mac and cheese sells out quickly. Romas bread is a household staple.
The people who run and own it are great, very nice, and provide wonderful customer service. The atmosphere is pleasant, with lovely banter sometimes heard between customers. It is a cash-only establishment, but there is an ATM inside. This is a place where strangers can leave as friends.
