“Thank you for the amazing Chinese food so good and I don't get sick from eating it. The only Chinese place around here I haven't gotten sick from. So delicious! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! Very happy with what I have ordered recently.“

“This is a really fabulous sushi spot nestled in Village Gate. They have a nice mix of standard fare and really creative rolls. Our favorites are Sunny Day and Sweet Potato Tempura, though everything we've tried on multiple visits is fantastic and fresh. They also have a really interesting and tasty Seaweed Duo Salad. For the non-sushi eater, don't hesitate to order their ramen. It is wonderfully prepared. Service has also always been friendly and fast. Special requests were accommodated with a smile. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good. If the weather is nice, enjoy dinner on their patio. This is one of our favorite spots in the city. It will not disappoint!“

“Words can't really describe how good this place is. I refuse to eat Sushi at any other location. I have still not found any place that's better let alone close to the quality of the food that Sushi King serves. Their service is a little slower because of the time it gakes to make their masterpieces. The service is not their strong point, but I assure u that the food highly makes up for it and is well worth the wait. Please disregard the service as they are totally family run and they do their best to serve you. Trust me, when u eat, it will be well worth it. Places like this should be protected at all cost and people should support this business at all cost. Been going there since 2012!“
“My family and I had an incredible dinner at Next Door. From the moment we walked in, our hostess Brooke made us feel welcomed right away. Our server, Tanya, was outstanding. She was super knowledgeable, attentive, and went above and beyond to make the experience feel memorable for us. It was such a treat having chefs John and William stop by with a few complimentary dishes. Hearing their passion and insight behind each dish made the whole night feel even more special. The service, ambiance, food, drinks, and attention to detail were 11/10. Huge thanks to Brooke, Tanya, John, and William for making it an experience like no other!“

“it was enjoyable. however, the membrane wasn't removed on the squid for the squid nigiri and the clam nigiri was a little tough.“

“I got a Shrimp bento box here. The shrimp was perfectly cooked.
The description didn't include the 2 dumplings that were included, so that was a nice surprise. It also had a very small portion of some sort of cucumber side, which also wasn't noted in the description.
It also came with a spicy tuna roll. It wasn't the greatest roll I've ever had, but I thought the price was very fair.
The salad was crisp and fresh.
The dumplings had lost a bit of their crisp because they were sitting in soy sauce - honestly, I preferred it - I know most probably wouldn't.
The miso soup was excellent. It did have tiny pieces of tofu in it, which I thought was low quality, but they were so tiny, and so limited, I don't imagine anyone would notice them if they were not focusing on them.
I'm no expert on white rice, but I thought it was fluffy and very good. It certainly wasn't dried out at all, which would be a huge turnoff for me.
From paying to getting my food, it was about 10 minutes. For a what appears to be a mom and pop type restaurant, I thought this was very reasonable.
They seem to be criminally unknown. Very slow. I am going to have to go back and try some different things to get a fair rating.
The staff (the individual I interacted with) was very friendly, and there was no accent barrier, which I struggle with sometimes.
When I asked how long they have been around, I was told about 12 years. Despite being on a major road, I had no idea they existed. This place is definitely on my radar now, though.
I would give it a solid 4.5 stars. Atmosphere brings it down to a 4 star overall, but I really don't care about atmosphere if the food and price are good, which it was here. And let's be honest - most of their business seems to be takeout.“

“I'm not sure I agree with the claim that it is the best sushi in Rochester, but I will say that I think it's among the best sushi VALUES in this area. Overall the food was very good. We ordered a Bento Box A, edamame, two rolls and an order of dumplings. The Bento Box A was simply a massive amount of food. It could easily be split between two people. The salad and soup are standard fare and reasonably forgettable, but definitely not poor quality. The five pieces of sushi and the California roll were fresh, well made and tasted great. The dumplings were delicious. We set aside the teriyaki chicken as a snack to have another day because there was simply too much food to have at one sitting, and the vegetable and shrimp tempura were very very good. We got our food to go but went in to get it. The interior feels a little rundown, but appeared to be clean and was comfortable. I would definitely order food from them again.“

“Stay away from Tai Chi in Victor mall. They gave me four pieces of tuna what I asked for double tuna and I swear it was like a 1/4 cup of rice. I called and asked for them to put the rest of my order in my bowl and they said that they don't do that cuz I already took it and left. Then they refused a refund!!!! Very rude as well...“

“The food is great and the location is nice, but don't get takeout from them: they forgot my miso soup and rice (which came with my meal), and put avocado in a dish they said didn't have it (my mom is allergic). For $61, I would hope for more consistency.
Make sure you can send your meal back when getting food from here. Otherwise, this is the best Japanese restaurant in Rochester after Shiki's decline.“

“Update. My ratings have slightly improved. We’ve been dining at Umi Japanese Steakhouse for many years over 10+. They have finally upgraded their old worn, rundown chairs. That’s a plus! The food was good and the chef was very entertaining. I was surprised to learn at the end when it was time to pay. The restaurant automatically included the gratuity on our checks. Our reservation was for a party of 4. I don’t believe I saw a sign posted stating gratuity is automatic regardless of the party size and the server definitely didn’t mention the gratuity to us. Because I order the same dish every time, I never bothered to open up the menu to see if it was listed anywhere inside. So, I honestly can’t say if it was listed somewhere on the menu. I don’t mind tipping, however, if a party is under 6 or 7 like any other decent upscale restaurant, Umi shouldn’t assume we would tip at their preselected rate/percentage. What if the server, service or food were subpar? Have you ever experienced a similar experience at Umi with regard to gratuity and smaller parties? Diners be aware.“

“Great food and great wait staff! Just be careful to ask about their “service fee” which is really just the gratuity already added onto the bill. I didn’t ask what that was and ended up tipping twice accidentally. Other than that - it was great!“
