“All of the food we had was very good. Sushi was really good although the conveyor seemed to be repetitive and lacking choices, particularly tuna. We could have very easily ordered from the menu, but it is so fun to watch the conveyor in anticipation of what is coming next. The robot delivery drinks was pretty cool and a first for me. The service staff was very efficient at keeping the table clear and helpful with teaching you how the process and tablet works.“
“One of my top go to restaurants in Rochester. The staff are extremely nice and the food is outstanding. I highly recommend the spicy basil Thai noodles or the scallop hibachi. Their miso soup is the best I've ever had. If you're looking for a very down to earth Japanese/ Hibachi restaurant, Tokyo is the place to be.One thing I do wish is that they cook the hibachi in front of you instead of in the kitchen. The restaurant is definitely too small to have even one table to do that. However, it's well worth the price and the flavor to go here without the experience.“

“Wow! Thank you! Such a great date night. I called early in the day on a Saturday and they were pretty full with reservations but I asked about coming right at 5 and they got us in. I wish I could remember the bartender/waitresses name, Jess I think?!? She was AMAZING! The entire place filled up so quick and she just danced around and was so pleasant! She was a whole vibe! The rest of the service staff didn’t come until closer to 6 and all the tables and bar were full. She didn’t skip a beat. She recommended my new favorite roll of all time, south beach. I also ordered the sushi bar salad and asked if we could get an extra bowl. They split it and presented it so beautifully! I wish I had a picture. This is also now my all time favorite. “I’ve only ever ordered on DoorDash (I’m a bit of a homebody) but I was BLOWN AWAY by how good their sushi burritos are! Easily the best sushi I’ve had. All of the ingredients taste so fresh, even after the 15-20 minute drive to my house! I’m not a huge tea fan, but love popping bobas, so I just order it with extra sugar! Today, I tried their macarons and they were also unbelievably delicious. I am so glad to have this restaurant as an option in my city!“

“This is a really fabulous sushi spot nestled in Village Gate. They have a nice mix of standard fare and really creative rolls. Our favorites are Sunny Day and Sweet Potato Tempura, though everything we've tried on multiple visits is fantastic and fresh. They also have a really interesting and tasty Seaweed Duo Salad. For the non-sushi eater, don't hesitate to order their ramen. It is wonderfully prepared. Service has also always been friendly and fast. Special requests were accommodated with a smile. Prices are reasonable and the portions are good. If the weather is nice, enjoy dinner on their patio. This is one of our favorite spots in the city. It will not disappoint!“

“Fantastic restaurant for a special occasion. Food was delicious and service was exemplary. Portions are on the small size but my sea bass was cooked to perfection. Our sushi order was a little slow coming but worth the wait. Husband's lamb was also perfect. Definitely recommend Next Door.“
“Decided to check this out. And we left very happy. First off, it's off street parking. We arrived around 5:30 on a Friday night so it wasn't busy yet. We were seated right away and they brought out miso soup and water. There's a QR code on each table that you scan to get access to the menu for online ordering. When they say "all you can eat", they mean it. Only thing not included is drinks which they have an assortment - alcoholic and non-alcoholic. We enjoyed all of our selections except the kimchi was not to our taste. The fried soft shell crab was def a favorite. The bathroom was clean but could use some upgrades.“

We have limited our selection to rolls but shishemi is available. Everything is well presented. The place is small and possibly hard to find.
