Solid Indian food in the heart of Jackson Heights. I was able to walk in on a Sunday for lunch. The food was good and everything came out as very hot and fresh. Everything tasted like what I was expecting, which is good. I ordered the samosa chaat, pani puri, shrimp masala, chicken masala, bread basket (garlic naan was my fave from the basket, chicken biryani, and saag paneer. Surprisingly, this was one of the BEST saag paneers I’ve ever had. I loved how this restaurant uses big pieces of fried paneer. I also loved the biryani because it came with cashews, which added a nice crunch, and yogurt sauce on the side.New location opened across the street! The new place is more modern compared to the older location and very clean. The service was good! The employees are kind and friendly! Would definitely recommend for those wanting Indian food at a nice sit down restaurant. Great place to to bring people who have never had Indian food!Vegetarian options: There’s a section that’s just vegetarian - large selection of veggies, cheese options.

I'll start by saying that service was just fine. We walked in as a group of 6 on a busy Sunday afternoon during lunch hour, and they managed to accommodate us within less than 10 minutes, highchair and all! The diner is very spacious, clean and nicely decorated inside. I found out that is a new location, and they previously had a location that was more "diner-like". I've heard nothing but good things for the last few years and how I "have to go eat at Jackson Diner, the food is so good!" I don't know if it was over-hyped, or if things have just changed over time, but I wasn't overly-impressed with the food taste here. The quality was good - it was fresh, well-made and presentable, but I have had more authentic flavors elsewhere. We ordered apps for the most part - samosa, garlic naan with hummus, chaat papari, sabudana tikki chaat, samosa chaat, paneer tikka and a couple of mango lassis. The mango lassis were good, but I didn't realize they came with so much ice in them, so if you're sensitive to ice (like me) be sure to tell them before you order as they won't remake it for you. The food itself was presented well, but I felt the flavors were lacking. The samosa were overly dry and spicy, but not a depth of flavors that I am used to. The paneer tikka came out sizzling out, but again, it didn't taste like the paneer had been seasoned or marinated enough. The chaat papri was crispy, beyond that I didn't taste much. Sadly, I don't think I'll be going back as there are so many other Indian restaurants closer to me that offer the same menu items with more flavorful food. If you're in the area, it's still worth checking out if it's your first time!

I’ve been to Jackson Diner on and off since the early 2000s. Going back after a few years, I had expectations that the food would be good as always; however, it was dead mediocre. The bhaighan bharta was lacking salt & the bhindi masala was bland. Additionally, even though we were just 3 people who ordered less than 5 things in total, we were slapped with an 18% default tip on the receipt. I’m not sure if this is classified as automatic gratuity or not, but this was unfair as we were just a party of 3. This is a very pitiful practice and Jackson Diner has lost my business for good.

Fabulous place to be, I am not Indian to see how authentic the food was. However, polite staff and delicious food.

This is a tourist Indian restaurant that is marketed to white people who are coming into Queens from Manhattan for a cultural experience. I ordered the tandoor mix and while it visually looked amazing it was terrible with no flavor. The samosa chaat , however, tasted nice., This restaurant will include an 18% tip on your bill. I ordered one appetizer (samosa chaat $8) and the tandoori mix and I paid $46.00. Please go to other restaurants in Jackson Heights, I am sure one can find more authentic and flavorful Indian cuisine.

Amazing food and service. I ordered takeout from Jackson diner today. I’m on crutches and the gentleman carried my food out to the car for me! When I got home it tasted as good as it does in house. Awesome.

I've heard good things about this place as the ambiance is nice the basic dishes were lacking that traditional thickness I am use too. I may give them another shot.

Great place to try Indian food if you’re new to it! If spice scares you then this is a great place to start! I was hoping they’d have more spicy variety but it’s all very very mild. Though there was nothing spicy, the flavors aren’t lacking! We had chicken masala, paneer tikka, garlic naan, achar, mango chutney and a side of rice! This was actually more than enough for two, we took some of it home! The staff was nice and very attentive, food comes out pretty fast, great for beginners!Kid-friendliness: Nothing spicy, great for kids!

FOOD POISONING!! BEWARE! My husband had been looking for a new Indian restaurant because our local one closed. He remembered passing by this establishment so we decided to order. At first everything was fine, food is pretty good and he was satisfied. I did not eat that evening because I was not in the mood for Indian. He ordered chicken tiki masala, bread basket and pakora and ate from each dish. About an hour after going to bed he started to feel awful.. sweating, stomach cramps and feeling nauseated. I’m an NP and he is an MD and we knew off-bat that it was food poisoning. He vomited 4 times that night and had gastro issues for 2 days. We attempted to complain to both the restaurant and DOORDASH whom we ordered from so they can remove that off their menu in fear others will be affected… NO ONE RESPONDED. Shame on you people.

The new location on the west side of the street feels very modern, if a bit smaller. The food is reliably excellent, as always.

The newly opened Jackson Diner is better than ever! We ordered Samosa Chat for starters, and it was divine. The flavors are delicate and special, and great for lunch. We also had chickpeas and rice ,Chana Masala, with potatoes. We enjoyed the service, too. The restaurant is not crowded early in the day, and the waiter was very helpful ! We will go again and try the spinach dish. The Tandoori bread was delicious, too.
