Second time at Joon Omakase and love it! All seafoods were super fresh and well presented. Staff is so nice and accommodating. Best pieces this time for me are ... toro with caviar and uni, hamachi, salmon, and yuzu ice cream ?. I will be back. And thank you Chef Joon for making it a special birthday for my 15 year old. Didn't take many pictures, but here's a few.

I have to give this place a good review because it is a very casual place with good food, good staff and most of all the Omakase is definitely under priced. The Sushi chef knows what he is doing and hit all the right notes and I'm wondering to my self this restaurant is definitely undercharging. I came here for Lunch and I'm definitely going to come back for the dinner Omakase.

?? Hidden omakase gem in Queens! It’s been a long time since I’ve been able to label something like that. The chef at Joon’s cooks and prepares sushi with a lot of heart~ the value intersection between quality and value is insanely high… lunch omakase starts at ~$60pp (at the time of this review) and I believe dinner is ~$100pp. The fish is high quality, varied, and well aged. His style is slightly more modern as there are different sauces/toppings and preparations (but not overly done). The omakase is more kaiseki style in that the courses extend beyond nigiri - there is an octopus ceviche appetizer, tempura item of seafood stuffed lotus root, chawamushi with white truffle sauce, homemade yuzu ice cream created with organic milk/yogurt/honey (the only sweetener). The sushi items include black sea bream that is slightly smoked and torched (personal fav of the meal), horse mackerel, chu toro topped with a generous heap of black truffle sauce, unagi with avocado cream, mixed fish inari (tofu pocket), among others. There was even a playful mini temaki plate of scallop, uni, tuna, ikura, tobiko, sushi rice - you mix the ingredients (or in my case, eat each item independently) and wrap your own mini hand rolls with seaweed. The meal ended with a mini miso ramen with lots of toppings and the aforementioned house made yuzu icecream. I’m not big on icecream … but this particular one is memorable, is not overly sweet, and tastes elegant. Will definitely be coming back soon! Thank you Chef Joon! <3

New gem in Queens. Omakase lunch $60 dinner $100. Wine option limited, sake list large, decent beer selection. Call for reservations at counter for chef to prep. Pay cash, save on tax was a given option. Going back for sure, perhaps opt for dinner Omakase...

I had Omakase for lunch with my daughter, and from the beginning to the end, all the food is perfect and delicious, and the chef is also very clean, and it's amazing that such a restaurant is in flushing. All the fish such as tuna Toro salmon melt in my mouth. The price is the reasonable and it was good often. It's a place to go, and I'm a big fan and I highly recommend it. I want to give you ten stars.
A place that only I want to know.

This place is a hidden gem and a wonderfully unexpected surprise.
While walking in the area with my wife, we passed the Joon Omakase restaurant. We decided to just look at the menu to see what they offered. To be honest, we didn’t expect much since the area is congested and fast paced where cheap food options are plentiful, often times resulting in food prepared with more attention to quantity rather than quality. But again, we were surprised. We expected to be seated for omakase regardless of the time. However, this restaurant has a very high standard of preparation and presentation. They told us that the preparation time was not sufficient, and therefore could not seat us for omakase. So we left.
Shortly after however, we returned for regular dining, curious to see what the quality of food was like. We are very happy we made this decision.
The interior was lovely. The intentional design lended itself to a very cozy and comfortable atmosphere. From the table placements, to the seat designs, to the vegetal decor, to the lighting; everything was beautifully thought out to present a modern yet traditional theme that has hints of earthly elements.
Then there was the service. It was excellent. The server was very pleasant and kind, making us feel very warm, welcomed, and appreciated. Service was timely and swift, at the same time calm and not rushed.
Then there was the food. I’ve eaten sushi for a long time. There are few times I can say that the fish was as fresh as it was here. The quality of food was on par if not better than some of the more expensive high end restaurants you would find in the city. In addition, the food presentation was, again, thoroughly and intentionally thought out.
We love the attention to nuance and detail that often gets lost and neglected in super high competitive areas like these. Joon Omakase clearly cares about quality above all else.
We have reservations in the coming days for the omakase serving. We are very much looking forward to it, seeing how amazing our regular dining experience was.
Definitely recommend anyone who loves food quality, service, and a beautiful atmosphere come here for a meal.
Be well. Be safe.

We came in on the Friday night and seated at 7:30pm. I made reservation 2 days ahead. It was raining on that Friday night so it was only four of us with Chef Joon. We booked 20 amakase courses. We ate sushi, shashimi, ramen, fansy 3, 4, and 5 layers of sushi, soup, tempura, specialty ice cream and more. The experience was worth every min of my Friday time, highly recommended. It will help me a lot in knowing the name of these rare sashimi if they can write it down for me:)

I loved the omakase experience here! I was very pleased that this was not just nigiri but included other dishes like a crab egg souffle, a soup and soba noodles. I couldn't even count the amount of dishes we had but I enjoyed every one of them and left incredibly full. The cost was well worth the meal and the attention and service was great. Highly recommend, just look for the stairs down to the entrance.

What a hidden gem, literally as the store front in below the street level and easily missed. I have tried omakase at so many places and I’m so happy to have found a real gem near me. Great variety of ingredients with flavor that accentuate the main. Not over-sauced like some places while not too subtle that leaves you yearning for more flavor. Chef Joon has it just right. Service is also fantastic. While they have many individual dishes, I highly recommend their omakase. Sake list is quite good too. Go enjoy!

For the price, this is definitely a worth it place! This omakase gives a lot for $100 that I lost count of how many dishes they served. Not to mention the quality was great too! The chef gave concise explanations for each dish including suggestions on how to eat them. This is definitely a well worth omakase especially for those who have never been to one. If you ever been on the fence about doing this type of dining, this is the best place to go and hopefully it'll convince you to try more similar style places too!
