Mapo tofu was super good. The gou bao rou wasn't that good. Meat was dry and tough and the sauce was too over powering compared when eaten at a dongbei restaurant in China. The sauce there is balanced between the sweet, sour, and ginger and cut with enough thickened water to be able to taste the marinated meat.
We came in for a late lunch, so the place was pretty empty. We ordered the dumplings with fermented cabbage, hot and sour soup (it was a very cold day, and we were freezing,), and the loofah with shrimp. The dumplings and soup were very good. The loofah, what a surprise! It was absolutely fantastic. The melon was soft on the outside, but somewhat crunchy on the inside. We thought the shrimp were fresh, not frozen, because they were smooth and sweet. The sauce was subtle and delicious....
This place is really a 3.5 stars. I did not like the pig knuckles, noodles and the dumplings were just ok. The beans were excellent along with the lamb, chicken and frog meat. The place was a little pricey.
