Love their sliced bread and triangle cake!

Their Pullman white bread is undefeated. They make the best Asian style sandwich bread in NYC. I usually get their extra large loaf and freeze to use as needed. So good! Also a great place to get a ham and egg bun and Swiss roll cakes.

I think Yi Mei has been in Elmhurst for over forty years. Props to businesses surviving in NYC. I haven't visited much because my mom preferred other neighborhood bakeries, however, I like to taste test and support bakeries that make their own mooncakes! Since Lung Moon in Chinatown closed I was excited to see the rows of mini moon cakes here. I got a little plain lotus paste one to try ($2.50). It was fresh and the texture was soft. However it was more salty than sweet, and not quite the right taste. The custard bun ($2) was a little tough, the custard tasted artificial. The cakes looked good but I didn't try.

My fav Bakery , the cakes are always amazing ! I choose this bakery for every special birthday celebration. The owner and the employees always make sure my cakes come exactly how i want them . They never fail to make me happy . The best past is that you can order 2 days prior the celebration & it will be ready :) of course I always order at least a week in advance just in case I wanna change anything . The prices are pretty good ! The cake itself taste mazing .

When I was a child back in 2000 there was a big cat here. He was always looking out the window through the glass. That cat was there till late 00s or to early 2010s. It’s a usual Chinese bakery, but for people like me who grew up here. It’s one of those nostalgic places that are still here.

One of the best bakeries in the heart of Elmhurst. I been coming here practically for 20 years. The staff, the cat and everything about this place is awesome. This is an awesome gem hidden in Elmhurst check it out!!! PS; The sponge cake is the best!

I used to come here a lot as a little kid and have fond memories of this place. Came back here and it’s changed a little from what I remember. First, the prices are still amazing. I got a big sponge cake for $2.25. The sponge cake tasted good, but it wasn’t anything special. It was very fluffy and not too sweet. It was a little dry and had this strange banana, egg yolk taste to it. Considering I came very close to closing, they had a good variety of baked goods, mostly sponge cake rolls and buns. The service was a little curt, and I felt kind of nervous paying for my order. Even from a no frills place it’s nice to have a polite staff.

I bought a big loaves of white rectangle bread recently, only to find out that the bread is not fresh. I called, and the owner answered the phone. I told him that his bread is not fresh and must have been on the counter couple of days. He admitted that his bread is not made fresh everyday and he doesn't understand why I am complaining. It is disgusting tasting the white bread that wasn't fresh. They used to be soft and fresh, before the pandemic. A big disappointment! The owner doesn't even care that he is selling bread that are not fresh, and even challenge me to file a complaint with the health department!

Just ordered lemon cake and a cup of coffee here. I asked the lady a sleeve for my hot coffee and put it in the paper bag for me. She refused to give me tiny paper bag and raised her voice. Deserve 0 star! Very bad customer service. Couldn't believe the store still exists. Never come back!

My favorite Chinese bakery in Elmhurst. I like my savory foods and I think the best part of going to the Chinese bakery is to be able to buy buns (bao) that have high value. These buns can be eaten for breakfast or brunch style. Usually they sell out buns quickly if there is a rush in the morning. I love my hot dog buns and they do it justice. Bread is soft, moist, and has the right sweetness. It comes in a cheesy form too and they make it great. The chicken sandwiches are much better than others I've tried. They use actual chicken thighs and are meaty. Ham and egg are great. I love how they use Mayo in it. White bread is definitely the best. Has the best color on the outside and is always soft and fluffy. Sweetness and airy. I rather go with this than almost any bread you can buy in the supermarket. Makes great BLTs. Skip the Fay Da and Rainbow bakery for your breakfast baked goods. This place makes the best. Their sesame red bean are good too. Cheers.
