Very good sushi. Super fresh. The food is really great, but their prices are definitely expensive . Maybe if you were getting more of a vibe or at least a bar, it might justify. But the food really is great.

Katsuno is a true gem of a place. It’s easily my favorite restaurant of my life. I love everything about it. The food, the service, the aura of the place, the jazz that plays while you eat. The food is authentic, good quality and made with skill and love. The menu is quite traditional and simple made with beautiful technique and feels like you are in Japan. I am so happy this place exists in Queens.

First visit. Mixed feelings. Great tasting food. Very authentic BUT 1- VERY expensive one chilled octopus a sashimi plate one rice cup and a pork udon soba about $120. WHAT THE HELL. Also except for the udon portions very small. A tiny cup of rice (cc. 3 tablespoons cost $3.50. $58 for a sashimi plate with very little sashimi. Add on for paying with credit card. Sorry but will not return.

Best Japanese restaurant in Queens, every single dish is outstanding, need in advance reservation

The sashimi quality is mediocre. I expected better due to it being owned by Japanese owner but it is disappointing.

Very hidden location, super easy to miss. The fish is v fresh so I would recommend getting sashimi. Owners are very nice and accommodating.Perfect date night spot. If you're a sushi aficionado, this place isn't revolutionizing sushi, but that's not the point. It puts out a consistent, good product and serves their community.

A true hidden gem of a restaurant! We had seen it mentioned a few times online but we were still surprised by how good it was. The quality of their raw fish is top notch, on par with many of the very expensive omakase restaurants popping up all over the city but at a more affordable price. We had the octopus & cucumber vinaigrette, magritte duck with yuzu kosho, and sashimi plate (20 pieces). All were fantastic but the sashimi was by far the highlight for us.We had asked about the salmon & sea urchin salad but unfortunately they couldn't make it that night as they didn't have enough sea urchin (which at least attests to the freshness of their ingredients!).We also asked the waitress/owner what she recommended, but she seemed hesitant to mention anything other than karaage, black cod, and tamagoyaki despite having a menu with more unusual options than what's offered at most Japanese restaurants in Queens. To be fair, every table around us seemed to be ordering those things, so I guess their main customer base is not very adventurous and she didn't want to recommend something that we might end up not liking.Service was fairly attentive considering they seem to be a husband-wife team with no other staff, but I imagine it could get a bit chaotic during busy times. They're reservation only, but we called a couple of hours before opening time and had no issues getting a table for Friday evening. Bring cash to avoid paying a fee!

Delicious and better quality fish than the previous places I've been . We had the karage, agedashi tofu, blackened cod, sashimi dinner. The dessert ... green tea cake with blackened honey .... Too much deliciousness. Not inexpensive and comparable in price to Manhattan. However, Katshno is actually better in taste and quality. Wish I lived closer to Forest Hills.

Been here three times over the course of a few years and I leave underwhelmed and felt overcharged every time. The most recent visit was especially disappointing because, on top of the already over priced food, they now add a 3.7% charge to use credit cards. 3.7% is by far the highest I have encountered and definitely higher than what they actually pay in merchant fees, which means it's a source of profit for them. Atmosphere: 2 - Restaurant is clean and tidy but very dated and small. Not much "atmosphere" at all. Food: 3.5 - Food quality and preparation is good, better than the typical neighborhood "Japanese" or sushi place. Prices: 1 - Most items, not all, are 25% to 33% over priced relative to both quality and portion size. Service: 3 - Average. The lady is nice but not the most attentive. Never asked if I wanted another beer and my water glass was empty half the time. Overall: 2 - Slightly better than average food at high prices and unreasonable 3.7% credit card usage fee.

My wife, I, and another couple visited for an evening of sushi. We ordered Spanish Mackerel Tataki, Chilled Steamed Octopus, both kinds of miso soup, Kara age (fried chicken), avocado/eel and ikura rolls, a sashimi plate, and a sushi plate. All of it was very good, much better than your "average" sushi restaurant. The fish was very fresh and succulent. The salmon was not farmed. The karaage was delicate.Prices are also higher than average; and portions are not American sized. For example, the tuna roll was plain and only was six "small" pieces. Probably what you would find in a traditional bar in Japan. But you should go if 1) you don't mind spending a little more, and 2) you really want excellent sushi.

An unexpected find in this part of Queens. The staff was very accommodating and made space for us to come with a baby stroller. We had the black cod, karage, and a selection of nigiri. Everything was delicious and the sushi was very fresh. Recommend the salmon and uni pieces. They also have a few Japanese craft beers - we had the matcha IPA and Yuzu ale, all delicious. Giving 4 stars mostly for the cleanliness around the bathroom area.

Have eaten here several times over the past several years. The quality has always been a cut above the other neighborhood sushi restaurants, with some interesting variations that you don't routinely see. Whenever I had been here before, it was with someone else, and the service seemed attentive and friendly. However, the last time I was there, I was dining alone and the server seemed distracted, focusing her attention and cheerfulness on tables with couples and groups. I think I was the only one in the restaurant who was not offered a complimentary dessert. I was alone and looking for a comforting experience, but instead felt further isolated. Also, while the food was good, it no longer seemed as special as I recalled.
