Great food and very friendly service, especially during Game 5 of the Knicks game, but then things went downhill when I asked for a detailed receipt, which you have to ask for since they only give you a summarized receipt. They showed me the bill on their POS system, and the tip portal on their device, but they never told me a 20% gratuity charge was already added since we were a party of 5 people. And I added a 20% tip without knowing. I understand that a big group would incur a gratuity fee, but the staff should be obligated to inform us of the gratuity before we pay for our meal. They did not, they showed the total before tipping, as if no gratuity was added. I didn't find out about the gratuity fee until much later from the detailed receipt that I requested. And it seems there was a review made 2 years ago that stated the same problem I just had. Good food and good service does not mean you have the right to be deceptive, especially since this isn't the first time someone had the same issue when dining at this establishment. Now I have to be cautious of any restaurant when I dine with a big group, because I don't know if I can trust the staff with disclosing the gratuity fee. You want to restore trust, inform big groups when they ask for the check about the gratuity charge. And when you print the receipt, print a detailed receipt like any other restaurant. This is a deceptive tactic to get more money out of people.
anyone who appreciates authentic Japanese dining. From the moment you walk in, youβre welcomed by an old-world atmosphere that feels both elegant and inviting. The restaurant has a timeless charm that makes every meal feel like a special occasion.
a great variety of sake and other beverages that perfectly complement the menu. Every dish was beautifully presented and packed with flavor, showcasing the quality and care that goes into the food.
What really sets Narita apart is the service. The staff is attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, creating a warm dining experience from start to finish. Between the excellent food, great drinks, classic ambiance, and exceptional hospitality, Narita delivers on every level.
Highly recommended for a memorable Japanese dining experience. Iβll definitely be returning. π£πΈβ¨

Narita is a gem, sitting in what might becoming a pipe if dirt (Forest Hills) but alas I do have hope.
Stephanie the owner is a tireless powerhouse. I have witnessed her first hand at 4-5am in the morning at the docks inspecting fish to make sure it meets her upheld standards.
This is a restaraunt I'm glad after years to find the menu has only slightly changed, I digress...evolved.
I miss the Hibachi grills, the sounds of spinning blades and the laughter the clever, witty Hibachi chefs jokes would send through the restaraunt, but in today's world where every foot of table space is vital to meeting ever rising rental costs of prime Realty on restaraunt row it's an understanding sacrifice.
One of the only restaraunts where you can play intimate footsie with your date under the tatami table.
Highly recommend adding flavor of Narita into your memory banks.

I had a very disappointing experience at Narita on 71 Austin Street. The prices are extremely high for the quality of food they serve. Everything we ordered tasted bland and poorly prepared, and it definitely did not feel worth the money at all.
On top of that, the overall experience just felt unpleasant. When you pay premium prices at a restaurant, you expect fresh, flavorful food and good serviceβbut that was not the case here. The dishes looked unappealing and tasted even worse.
There are many great places to eat in the area, so I honestly regret choosing this one. I would not recommend Narita to anyone looking for good Japanese food. Save your money and go somewhere else. ππ½οΈπ

I ordered a $25 bento box but found that food to be below par. The shrimp was overcooked and nothing special. I literally got one piece of broccoli and carrot. I wont be coming back again.

We ordered on line and although the delivery person showed picking up the order. The restaurant cancel. This happened after ONE hour of waiting. If there was an issue, they should hace said beforehand. Disappointing. And the reply was they don't cancel orders. If the delivery guy was there it means the restaurant cancelled.

I HATE to do this but I have to stay true to my honest ways of food review... The food was bad...very bad.
I'll say the best came in the beginning and the end. Miso soup was 100% amazing. Not salty nor bland. The matcha cheese cake was very good too...however, I didn't go there for the soup and dessert.
Rice on our rolls were not cooked well, the salmon was brown in color. They had a special roll costing over $20 but didn't state the ingredients so my monkey self was curious and order it. Consisted of mango, stale fried tempura and tobiko on top. With again, bad rice.
Why I feel so bad is because the owner is so genuine and nice. The staff is also very welcoming and fun to interact with. I never lie on my reviews and that's why people read my stuff. Fix the food. I know you can.

This is our go-to Japanese restaurant in Forest Hills. The service has always been attentive and friendly. The food is always fresh and exquisite. They have a diverse selection of rolls and we've never been disappointed. Their tofu age is so good that I clandestinely drink the broth when no one is looking. Even their simplest dishes are perfectly seasoned and wonderful. We come here often and are always happy with our meal and dining experience.

Overall it was good, came yesterday with a friend of mine almost at the end and the attention was truly on point even though they were about to close, my server spoke my language which was very surprising to see and he was very well mannered, my table was very cozy and warm wooden style, drinks were good and for a quick rush meal I was pleased, canβt wait to be back for your Hamakama!

My family and I have been to this place many times and the last time ordered the California roll, tempura and many others. The food was good, and service was wonderful. The atmosphere was that there were people eating there, and many others.
