Looked for a fine dining for Indian cuisine and this place came up. Went inside and was happy to see the ambience and also the courteousness of the employees. But food was not at all upto our expectations.Daal makhani - I never had this bad of a taste anywhere in North America. No salt.Tandoori shrimp- not sure which part of the city in India makes the tandoori dish dipped in tomato based gravy. Won’t say taste was disaster but it was not as we expected.Biriyani- that was something which my kid liked . So 2 stars for this one only.Service - 4 as people there were really kind and courteous. Not sure whether we will visit this place again or not. Heard from a friend of mine it was very good long time back. Not sure if there is a change of chef recently.

Food portions are way too small for the price. The food tastes good but won’t be returning due to small portions. If you order takeout, then don’t even give you plain white rice with the entrees like other restaurants do.

Thanks to a suggestion by a server, I have a new found love for lamb chops and dal halwa. The lamb chops were soft and very moist. All meals tried at this restaurant were amazing. But I return for the lamp chops and now the dessert, dal halwa. This dessert reminds me of a childhood treat which I haven’t been able to place as yet.

Went to Akbar's after a really long time... Our reservation was for 8:45pm and by the time we reached there we were all very hungry so we decided to order the main course with a few veg and a few non-veg options all the dishes including the Lamb Rogan were cooked to perfection...mid way thru dinner we simply could not resist ordering the Kebab platter, glad we did - simply stating it was juicy and delish !!The favorite part about the meal were the fresh and hot Garlic Nana that were being served - yum !!The Kheer and Dal Halwa were a sweet ending to another Perfect meal!!Thank you Lord!!

My husband & I love Indian cuisine and this restaurant did not disappoint. I have not eaten hear in over 20 years and sorry I waited so long to return. The food & service were excellent. The wait staff could not be more friendly and accommodating. We will definitely be going back soon!

We held our Sangeet at Akbar during the end of the summer. The food was excellent and the venue was very spacious. It was a hot summer day however and their air conditioning unit was either not on or not working. It got really stuffy inside which is a buzzkill for an indoor party with lots of dancing. A lot of guests had to step outside of the reception space to cool down. We still had a blast but were disappointed they couldn't get the A/C working. It's something to keep in mind if you host an event there during the summer.

Always the best experience, whether its a dinner night out or having an event hosted at the banquet hall. Sandeep does an amazing job always paying attention to every detail. Every event, from my sweet sixteen to my wedding to now my daughter’s first bday has always been successful and memorable and more to come.

We were for hungry women looking for something delicious to eat. We stumbled across this place because it was right in the vicinity and we were happy we did because the food was delicious. However, when we ordered the food we found out that they charge you for the rice. I have never ever seen any Indian restaurant in Long Island that charges for rice. It was ridiculous I will order was over $85 and we could not have been given any rice with our entree?????? We thought it was absurd. So I went to go and pick up the order I spoke to one of the staff members who stated that Rice does not come with the order. So I'm assuming that when an order is made by phone or when we sit at the table we would not get any rice how absurd is that really. I understand the pandemic has placed a lot of business in the rear however this was really ridiculous. The staff member was pleasant and as I explained to him I have been to many restaurants specifically Indian restaurant where they would gladly serve rice with an entree especially with an order that was $85 or more. I gather he understood how serious this was to us he then decided to give us an order of rice but I informed him we already began cooking up our own rice at home and that it was not necessary. I don't think it should be one should force a staff or a business to give rice to their customers when their order is expected to come with rice. I saw nothing on the menu that said rice was not included. Now I don't know if this only pertains to outgoing orders or seated in the restaurant but I'll tell you what even though the food is not was absolutely delicious we decided it wasn't worth the $6 and we will not be back again. I think this restaurant should really consider putting a smile on their customers face and change their practice of not including rice in each order we ordered four entrees and some appetizers. I will stick with the restaurant that I am familiar with from now on. This was our first time and certainly our last. It may not be a big deal for some people to pay the extra $6 but certainly one should be notified before the customer makes the order that rice is not included. No one should have to be surprised especially when they're hungry. One of the biggest traditions with ordering Indian food is to enjoy the rice with the meal so once again why not serve RICE? So to the owner can you please place on your menu that rice is not included so that no one else would be surprised when they get home with an entree of food and find that's all they have?
