Fabulous place with expert service and truly glorious food. The primo/secondo piatto structure of the menu leads you to very interesting choices. Man, I sound like an AI, but I actually mean it.

The service was gracious and truly professional, on par with one-star Michelin Manhattan gastronomy. The food was surprisingly spunky--while easily operating on an haute cuisine level--with an unequivocal Brazilian edge.

Also, go for the cocktails; the Yuzu/Miso drink (I forget ita exact name) is a gloriously well-balanced affair, as are the more mainstream caipirinhas.

The current restaurant photos do not do this restaurant justice. The Gunks have been waiting for a place like this! Or maybe, it was just I. Either way, visit!

A local friend recommended we try the new spot, Pitanga North. We were in town from NYC for my birthday weekend and my old fave had closed a year before. Pitanga North did not disappoint! Everything about it was wonderful: the food, the drinks, the ambiance, the super friendly and knowledgeable staff. The food was exquisite!! I have to admit my favorite dishes were the appetizers, especially the carrot dish and the tempura sweet potato. They were nothing like I expected and were both amazing!!! I I’m still thinking about them and may go back today for more. Beautiful and creative with layers and layers of complementary flavors and textures. So well done!! For mains, my kid had the perfect medium burger and loved it, and I had the tile fish, which was delicious, but it was overshadowed by our exquisite appetizers. I enjoyed a single, perfect flavorful cocktail (the new yuzu cocktail with bourbon), and it was a lovely birthday. We will def be back to enjoy the apps and try new dishes!

EDIT: I was craving those carrots (I know, carrots?!) and the delicious romesco in the crispy sweet potato dish, so we went back the next day and enjoyed our favorite dishes and tried some other dishes. Everything was so delicious! And consistent! And the staff treated us like old friends. What a fantastic place! We will be back anytime we are anywhere close to Gardiner. Thanks again!!

Fantastic food and drinks! This is a charming, attractive restaurant with really great food. My favorite was the sweet potato tempura. Small, curated menu with options for all diets. Omg the rice pudding dessert was so good! So happy to have a new, good spot!

As a Brazilian, I can say for sure it’s not authentic Brazilian food, but more like a fusion between Brazilian and Spanish/ American. The environment is very nice and the waitress are very friendly and welcoming. They took their time to explain the menu and options available. We ordered coxinha( chicken crocket) and that was my favorite. It was warm and fresh, I love it. For dinner we ordered the moqueca and feijoada. Both was a very small portion with not too much flavors and the feijoada really disappointed me because there’s no meat, just two little pieces of fat( feijoada is like a soup of black beans cooked with pork) and came with a slice of avocado( that definitely it’s not like we make feijoada). The drinks was good and we was expecting more options of desserts. Overall we enjoy it, but there’s room for improvement.

Loved everything about this place. Great service, lovely ambiance and amazing food. We shared the cheese bread and the beets for apps and the fish stew and sirloin for mains. I wasn't sure what to expect as a first time diner at this new restaurant, but I was more than pleasantly surprised. This will be at the top of our list upon every return to town. We didn't even get a chance to take pictures of our full plates because we couldn't wait to dig in.

The sirloin was delicious, and somehow the carrot appetizer was equally so. I have had grilled/oven baked carrots at home before and loved it. However, I have never had a carrot as good as a steak.

We had a truly wonderful dining experience during our night out! The passion fruit mignonette paired beautifully with the oysters—such a unique and refreshing twist. We shared one of the evening's specials, the picante for two, which was perfectly seasoned and elevated by the chimichurri and wild ramps. The service was exceptional—some of the best we’ve had in a long time. We’re already looking forward to our next visit!

Deliciousness! Food was perfectly cooked with seasonings and sauces not like anything else in this area. The appetizers perfectly made, even the tempora was light and tasty, beet salad was out of this world, chicken croquets; yes please! Unique and delicious cocktails too. Our server, Matt was very attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. Loved the casual yet upscale ambiance! Can’t wait to go back!

New restaurant in Gardiner, that was really a wonderful experience. Delicious, fresh food that was plated beautifully, good drink selection, though I didn’t try any cocktails, super friendly and knowledgeable staff, and a nice patio to boot. I’ll definitely return and make sure to try everything on the menu, and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone else who’d like a more high-end dining experience in the Hudson Valley!

I had the pleasure of dining at Pitanga North recently, and it was one of those meals that sticks with you—in all the right ways. The menu is vibrant, seasonal, and clearly crafted with care.

Here’s a rundown of what I tried:

Rainbow Carrots
These were a standout to start. Roasted and paired with a creamy cashew tahini and bright dill, the dish was earthy, slightly sweet, and beautifully plated. A solid vegan appetizer that didn’t miss a beat.

Local Beets
This was another highlight. The beets were tender and sweet, set off by a tangy whipped goat cheese and those crispy bits that added the perfect crunch. The green garlic brought a subtle depth that tied it all together.

Little Gem
Fresh, light, and full of texture. The crème fraîche dressing was silky and rich without overwhelming the delicate leaves, and the vinaigrette balanced it with brightness. The parsnip added a fun twist.

Moqueca (Brazilian Fish Stew)
The main event. A bowl of cod and shrimp in a rich, fragrant broth (although not that much) —warm, hearty, and full of flavor. The jasmine rice soaked it all up beautifully, and those thin crisps on top were a nice textural contrast. Comforting and exciting all at once. My only suggestion is to add more broth.

Espresso Martini with Mezcal
I couldn’t resist trying this creative cocktail. The smoky mezcal added a sultry, unexpected edge to the espresso—definitely not your typical martini, but absolutely worth it if you’re into bold flavor combos.

Final Thoughts
From the thoughtfully layered salads to the comforting depth of the Moqueca, Pitanga North hits the sweet spot between inventive and approachable. The staff was warm and knowledgeable, and the cozy Gardiner setting makes it all the more special. I’ll definitely be back.

Such a gem! Had dinner at Pitanga North last night and truly WOW. I was blown away at everything we ordered - fish stew and their tilefish special were standouts, as well as the coconut rice pudding for dessert. Delicious drinks and an intimate and beautifully designed setting. We'll be back!
