I respect honesty. Menu price listed is only for cash—should be a sign right in the register. No drip decaf coffee. They nickel and dime u.

Small local cafe in the center of town. Food is excellent. Amazing soup, salad and sandwiches. Great service. Highly recommend.

Nice spot for coffee and lunch. Very much enjoying the sandwich choices. Pastrami lox on a bagel is my favorite.

I found the service very friendly and down to earth, love local places like this where you have people that know the area and tell you about it as you order. The brioche bun sandwich, the bread was pillowy soft and toast just right, eggs were fried alright, although a runny sunny egg would been better, cheese was thoroughly melted, never a fan of cold cheese on a hot sandwich. For the cookies, just awesome, chewy and very soft, surprisingly since little cookies tend to be on dried out side.

This is my go to place for not only a snack, coffee, or a sandwich but NOW they have sit down dinners on the weekends! Way to go J and Danielle!!! Every dish is top notch.

Really cute cafe in Gardiner. A nice menu of sandwiches and quick bites for lunch, a nice selection of pastries and sweets and serves coffee too. But the real reason I keep coming back? On weekends they serve breakfast and the egg sandwich is just heaven on a bun! There's also a selection of premade meals that your can take home and reheat, local ice cream and beer and a freezer with local meats. We haven't had the chance to try their catering or dinner meals, but plan to in the future. Great stop after a walk on the nearby rail trail.

I've only been twice so far, but to call this my newest obsession is an understatement. The pastrami-cured salmon on a bagel was mind-blowingly good--not a simple lox on a bagel affair as I'd expected, but a thick cut of perfectly tender, cured salmon. The breakfast sandwich (on the fluffiest brioche roll) was by far the best example of the form I've ever had, and the sausage, while not spicy at all, added a great savory flavor. Even the ice cream, purchased and then used to top my own dessert at home, was phenomenal (I got salted caramel, but will surely be trying the others in the future). Looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu, as well as taking advantage of the foods for sale to bring home.

For breakfast and lunch, this place has always been a cut above everything around. Best bacon egg and cheese I've ever had and we lived in NYC for 22 years. The mortadella sandwich is also fantastic. We love their grab and go items, too. They recently started dinner on Friday and Saturday nights and the food is incredible. We especially love the Korean wings and the crab dip. Only two small complaints: 1) since they started doing dinner, they no longer do breakfast fri/sat (as of the time I'm writing this) and we definitely miss that--- especially on Saturday mornings. 2) There could probably be a bit more done for the atmosphere to transform the space in the evenings to make it feel cozier. It still feels very much like a daytime cafe. Simple things with lighting and perhaps some sort of curtain or partition to obscure the counter- service feel.Regardless, we love, love, love The Disgruntled Chef and are so glad they're a part of our little town.

Ordered the braised beef sandwich. Food is excellent. Reasonable prices and a buzzing atmosphere. They also have organic local products for sale. Coffee is also high quality. Excellent lattes.

Stopped in after a hike, parking is around in the town, I just stopped at the rail trail. Decided to get the beef and cheddar sandwich. Super tasty mix of foods on it and it was very satisfying after a workout.Seating is a bit light so not a place for large crowds. 3-5 people is alright but 1 or 2 is ideal if you're coming here to dine in.Atmosphere is like a coffee shop, no loud noises, chill and read the news or stay in while waiting for the rain to lighten up. I'd recommend take out if you happen to be passing through, the food is really tasty.
