Went Sunday lunch. They had plenty of makgeolli and eel. Very clean and fresh makgeolli. They don't always have makgeolli in stock since it really is small batch, so you can call ahead to check morning of
We ordered to go because we were driving with our cat.
We ordered the grilled eel dish. The female owner was super nice, she warned us that to-go eel dish would not be as good as dining in, and asked if we wanted to order anything else. We went with the eel dish anyway, I love eel :)). We travelled another 50 minutes before we were able to enjoy the dish. It was still flavorful and delicious. Banchans are great. Definitely will do dine in next time when we don't travel...read full review

My eating experience at Makgeolli Brewery & Pub was sincerely five star. The owner, Rosalyn, made sure to stay open for me even thought I was by myself. The grilled eel and banchan were incredible; multiple dishes were made with vegetables from her garden out front. And the makgeolli, home brewed!!, was the perfect combination of dry with a little tang/sweetness. It was so refreshing. Based on six reviews, NY Makgeolli Brewery & Pub is a small, unassuming restaurant run by a kind couple. The food is incredible, fresh, and flavorful, with many dishes made using vegetables from the owner's garden. The grilled eel is especially delicious, and the home-brewed makgeolli is a perfect combination of dry with a little tang/sweetness. Every side dish has its own unique flavor. The owners are incredibly kind, welcoming, and professional, making guests feel right at home. The experience feels like a little piece of Korea. The place is clean, and the hospitality is absolutely incredible. It is worth the trip from NYC. Call in advance for the eel and consider paying with cash, as the internet is unreliable. This is a gem.
