Have been here many times before. But this time after a great meal our waiter decided to add extra items to our dinner bill. When we questioned the extra items he rambled on incoherently. After three attempts to correct the bill he added his own gratuity! We finally had the manager resolve the issue. Pretty sure the waiter was trying to rip us off...and also sure he was on some drugs. It's a shame he ruined one of our favorite restaurant experiences. Do not think we ll back. If you go Double check your bill!!

I guess it took us too long to try Frisky Oyster. For years , we had heard how inventive and fresh the food was, as well as its polished service. The Friday night we dined there for the first time, it was under-staffed (one waitress was serving the entire restaurant, with a couple of bus people hurriedly and inappropriately taking plates and slapping dishes down on our table), very loud (an animated group celebrating a birthday in the bar area made the place sound like a tavern with a dart board ) and the food was underwhelming to say the least. The seared scallops were undercooked and cold -- It took so long to get our waitress's attention (unsuccessful) that I just ate them and hoped for the best. The beef short ribs were not very flavorful, and also not very warm. Cocktails are on the menu for $25 and up (no thank you). The dessert we had, which our waitress raved about (a coconut cake) tasted like cardboard. Before we could even tell her how unhappy we were with our dessert, the waitress slapped our bill on our table as she passed by, without even asking if we were finished and ready for our bill. Maybe it was an off night? My wife always likes to give restaurants the benefit of the doubt with how tight the labor force is in the service industry. But... frankly... if restaurants know they are understaffed and may not be able to deliver the high caliber of food and service that customers are expecting and which their prices project (promise?) to deliver, then like "congestion pricing" restaurants should make some sort of concession on those days when they know they're not going to be able to deliver their very best. I think they owe it to the customer.

We went with two other couples all whom enjoy a fine dining meal and experience on the regular back and came for an overnight getaway. While the atmosphere is intimate, the service is sub par and the food hit or miss. Our waitress had little care to be serving and could hardly spit out a thank you at the end. The cocktails are nothing to rave about and it stings at the cost of $25-30 a drink. I even over heard another couple complaining about the same. An appetizer for a deviled egg with a twist was $19 for ONE egg. While some meals were very good such as the duck, the steak was charred for what we would think was cooked on a George Foreman grill in the back. We all had high expectations given the creativity of the menu and prices but were wildly underwhelmed and will not be returning nor recommending in the future.

The Frisky Oyster The paucity of restaurants open for dinner in Greenport, off season, can test your patience. That said, we enjoyed a yummy dinner at The Frisky Oyster on a Saturday night in January. The restaurant was jammed, and reservations (yes, YES, even in January) are a must. The fun, lively ambiance was welcoming. For appetizers we opted for oysters friskafella ( their version of oysters Rockefeller), crispy calamari salad, and duck spring rolls, ALL of which were so very good! The oysters were the standout, cooked to the appropriate doneness well seasoned and garlicky. We then opted for the lobster pasta, the duck breast and the tuna, all of which were, again, very good. The tuna was the entree standout, cooked perfectly, simply seasoned and fresh. Delicious. The cocktails were quite well made and they graciously served 1/2 espresso martinis when we opted to share one for dessert. The accommodating service, lively atmosphere and very good food makes the Frisky Oyster a great place for dinner!

Had my birthday dinner this past weekend at The Frisky Oyster. Everyone at the table loved the food! The crab cakes, charred prawns and short ribs were delicious! The service on the other hand was terrible. Someone took our order and came back two more times to confirm what we ordered. Our waitress was not attentive at all! The restaurant was not even that busy at 9pm…I expected better!

Very good to excellent food. Desserts are not to be missed, so try! to save room. Service was inconsistent and the staff needs some training to truly merit the price point. E.g., bringing three entrees and then ... 10+ minutes later to bring the fourth entree or to have us sit for nearly 20 minutes waiting for our cocktails.. without bread or water... It may stem from the fact that on our very packed saturday night, the owner was not onsite. Tables were too crowded together, there was no way for the staff to move to and from the kitchen without constantly bumping my chair.

Overall service dealing with an issue - POOR. And will not return. Issue: Was given a gift card to this restaurant. I had never been there. Paid for dinner with the gift card and credit card (dinner was more than the $200 gift card) Server returned saying there was no money on the card. I was given the card for Christmas about 4 years ago. After explaining that was impossible, as the card had never been used. The server left and then returned and said there is nothing that could be done. They couldn't tell me when it was allegedly used, when I asked. And they made me feel as though I was the problem. So a dinner over $300 was actually over $500 when you add the $200 that was never used on the gift card. I brought the person who gave me the card to dinner that evening...needless to say they were very embarrassed. I would suggest to stay away from gift cards from this restaurant. Based on this experience, the restaurant and owners can't be trusted with money paid in advance on gift cards. I live locally on the North Fork and plan on letting neighbors and friends know about my experience, and the lack of business integrity this establishment has demonstrated.

Lovely long lateish dinner here. Same comfortable ambience as when I first came in 2018. Great for groups, family, couples. The food was okay, not particularly memorable.

The restaurant messed up our reservation for 8 and said we only booked for 6. Then refused to seat us. And then charged us $150 after the manager told us we wouldn’t be charged. Horrible customer service; and if that’s the case I can only imagine what the food is like. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

I'm not sure why there have been so many recent negative results for The Frisky Oyster. I actually think that Frisky was better than another more highly rated restaurant in town. The atmosphere is moody and not sterile. The service is attentive and also friendly. Our food was very delicious and inventive. Clearly a nice restaurant and definitely recommend this for a special occasion or just a great dinner.
