Love this place! Friendly service, good food in a renovated 19th century store.
Great quiche, I've been here multiple times and its always good. So are the Lemon Ricotta pancakes on Sundays. Friendly staff, fresh food.
The food is amazing and the prices are very reasonable
The Freight Wheel Café is such a special place, tucked inside a beautiful historic building. You can feel the love, care, and community spirit that Martha, her husband, and so many others have poured into it. Every time I visit, I leave with not only a full belly but also a full heart. As a bonus, the café offers free refills on coffee (a dream come true!) and even has a cozy upstairs space where you can find clothing and household items for yourself and your family. It’s more than just a café—it’s a community hub filled with warmth and generosity.
In mid May, we had a fantastic homemade breakfast with self serve coffee and tea. Our group tried the pancakes, french toast, fruit cups and egg sandwiches. Owners took time to chat and let us see the freight wheel and community spaces. Left with a few homemade fruit handpockets. Hoping to catch their Sunday ricotta pancakes next trip. Great that they've restored the store front and made a place for the community to meet.
Stopped in this morning for a cup of coffee and ended up having a lovely brunch of black bean soup with a grilled cheese. Good food, friendly atmosphere, and free WiFi! Open Friday, Saturday, Sunday mornings.
Just enjoyed a fabulous Sunday brunch at the Freight Wheel Cafe in Hartwick. My husband had veggie chili with homemade cornbread, while I sampled a sumptuous plate of blueberry lemon ricotta pancakes with REAL MAPLE SYRUP AND REAL BUTTER. We’ll be back for more!
The lemon ricotta pancakes (on Sunday only) are to die for. The staff is wonderful. Small quaint cafe.
