The Maker Restaurant is Racist and Homophobic. My husband - who is Black - and I attempted to dine here after we spent $160+ in the Lounge. We made a reservation. The host seated us next to a vent blowing cold air while it was 26° outside. When I went to the host stand asking to move, a manager, Lee, treated me as if I do not belong in the restaurant. She was condescending, even began to laugh at me and smile at her colleagues when I expressed frustration. She then followed me to the table, encroaching on my personal space asking me “ARE YOU OK?!” When my husband and I expressed that we no longer wanted to spend our money there and that we wanted to leave, she followed us to the host stand while we waited for our coats. She continued to laugh and smile. When I asked her to stop mocking me, she said “it’s a part of my job.” When I asked her why she treats gay men this way in the restaurant, she refused to answer the question. My understanding is that people in customer service roles provide services to customers - even if they are gay and Black, because the law requires them to do so - who spend money at the business. This is not our experience with Lee at The Maker Restaurant. We left feeling excluded from the all the straight, white people who were allowed to dine there without trouble.

Stunning ambiance; the space is nicely decorated especially in the restau's glass conservatory. Service was good and food was also pretty good.

My partner and I came for dinner on 12/30. We had a reservation at 9:15pm but showed up early (around 8pm) just to check in and see the hotel as it was our first time there. We were greeted by the lovely host who informed us that our table was actually almost ready if we wanted to sit early. Great! We waited maybe about 5 minutes and were looking at the books and smelling the fragrances and another employee came and actually said our table wouldn’t be ready until closer to our time. Totally fine! We asked if maybe we could get a drink at the bar (The Maker Lounge) and she brought us back there to a different host. That host said there may not be room for us, but could check. She came back and said there were actually two seats at the bar opening up - great! Didn’t want to inconvenience anyone, but took the opportunity. We were very grateful. While we were waiting for our seats they ended up turning away another couple because of no room. We sat down and ordered two drinks and as soon as we got them, the employee came back and said our table was ready whenever we wanted. We had just received our drinks, but sat for a few moments (maybe 10 min?) to talk and taste our drinks and the original host came back to also tell us our table was ready. All in all, we ended up sitting at about 9pm. While everyone was super nice, it seemed a bit disorganized and the bar ended up losing out on business (the couple who left) and we ended up feeling a bit rushed. We did find out that the kitchen was backed up, hence why they did not want to seat us right away. Totally good, but if you tell us our table won’t be ready closer to 9:15 off the bat, that’s good too and we are happy to go with that was our original reservation time :).
Despite the slightly confusing seating situation, I do think this is a must-do in Hudson. The space itself is incredibly beautiful - the perfect balance of swanky and modern paired with classic old world. We ate in the Conservatory and highly recommend, especially if you love greenery. Our drinks were absolutely fantastic and expertly crafted. We tried the Love in the time of Cholera, the Wild, the Paradiso, and two of the martinis.
Our server Kelly made our night. Her passion, knowledge, and love of her job for the restaurant really shone through. She guided us through the menu so kindly and answered all of our questions. Thank you Kelly!!!!
Also, while everything was delicious, the eggplant terrine was a religious experience for me. It truly was one of the best things I have ever eaten in my life. I would drive two hours from the city and sit at the bar and have two of those as my dinner and be in heaven. I would order extra baguette just to make sure you can scrape up the whipped ricotta and chili oil.
Overall, thanks for listening and we really cannot wait to come back again soon!!

We were staying nearby and booked dinner for a special occasion. We are picky world travelers, and we were so blown away by the food that we came back the next night as well. The pasta quality and farmy take on classics pasta dishes, totally amazing. We can’t wait to return. The bar is such a cozy chic vibe. Totally world class. Bravo.

Very lovely place for an nice evening dinner like a birthday or anniversary. While the menu can be a bit pricey, the food is exceptional and is definitely worth paying a little extra. The ambiance is gorgeous and is very well lit. Recommend stopping by the cocktail lounge if you want to feel like your back in the guilded age and have a great cocktail. Service was amazing and the staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Will definitely be stopping by again for a celebratory dinner in the future, or even just for a nice drink on a date night.
Vegetarian options: Vegetarian and vegan options available for a lot of dishes on the menu.
Kid-friendliness: Not very kid friendly, at least when we visited for a late evening dinner.

The hostess was very rude and unwelcoming.
The bar is great vibes but I would skip the restaurant. Plenty of great places to dine in Hudson that are much better than this mediocre restaurant.

An absolutely beautiful atmosphere and room - book the conservatory! The food is wonderful, cocktails were great, wine selection is excellent. An overall awesome experience. The one downside is no god desserts :( But otherwise a wonderful experience.

The receptionist was incredibly rude and borderline dismissive. We were told at the bar that plenty of seats were available, but the receptionist claimed there was a 2.5-hour wait. Out of curiosity, we checked the Resy waitlist ourselves and saw a 15-minute wait. The restaurant was completely empty, making the entire situation feel unwelcoming and bizarre. There are far better and more amazing places to visit in Hudson.

This place is an absolute vibe. The space is so well designed and very unique — plants, portraits, and funky furniture galore. We had an amazing meal with the Swordfish and Burrata apps, tagliatelle and buckwheat tortelli pasta (special), with some delicious cocktails to wash it all down. Felt like we were hanging out where your coolest college professor would go for drinks. August held us down with some amazing service and we literally had zero complaints. Def worth checking out if you’re in the area.

Really pleased with the lunch we had at The Maker. The tea selection was superb, food was excellent, and the atmosphere made me feel like I had stepped straight into an Agatha Christie novel. There is one single restroom, and unless you know what to look for it's a bit hard to find, that's my only small complaint. There can also be a bit of a line for it when it's busy. Overall this is a fantastic place to pop in for tea or a meal. We loved the dining room decor and comfortable seating, the window seats are also a great place to people watch from, as they look out onto bustling Warren St. Try the chips and dip, I also recommend the smoked salmon. Definitely don't leave without having a cup of tea! I can't wait to go back and try more of their delightful menu.

We were immediately made to feel like we were imposing on the staff. Very expensive and while the food is decent, the mediocre service ruined our experience.

Maybe the best meal, and dining experience, we've ever had. Incredible night all around. Such a beautiful and well decorated space. The Greenhouse type ceiling opens up the beautiful, dark design as do the pop of color couches.
All 3 courses were amazing. Surprisingly the highlights may be the Spiced Peach Sorbet (think Chai Peach....nice, right?) & the Earl Grey from a Japanese tea pot. Creative and flavor filled choices all night.
All of the staff, including our server (never got his name :( ) who takes classes at Sienna, were wonderful.
Perfect way to finish our 2 week New England/Berkshires/Catskills/Hudson Valley trip and 35th Anniversary celebration. We'd love to stay at the hotel the next time we're in Hudson.
Thanks to all for a memorable night and experience.
15 out of 5 all around.
