We went on weekdays in the late morning for casual brunch and did both dine-ins and take-outs. Students were extremely polite and served customers with great care. All tables were kept very clean. And we enjoyed our pizza, bao buns, and pastries. Overall a lovely experience.

Culinary Institute of America's casual walk-in restaurant. For lunch, variety of sandwiches, salads, to-go items. Noticed many tourists during height of the summer. Fabulous baked goods and desserts. Some unusual and certainly special. Made by students so well priced considering what went into them. The campus is in an exceptional setting on the Hudson River. Well worth exploring if you have the time. Hope to do that soon.

Vegetarian options: Can use more vegetarian and vegan options.

Great red pepper pizza! Wanted the bulgogi bao buns but they must be a a top seller! Next time I’ll have to beat the lunch rush.

Apple Pie Bakery, which is run by students at The Culinary Institute of America, has been on our to-go list for a while. As super fans of pastry, it’s definitely our must-try.

We arrived in the afternoon which was too late for their pastries, so we only had their Chocolate Chunk Cookie and Lemon Lavender Bavarian. The texture was extremely delicate with reasonable price.

I am usually not into lavender dessert but I liked their Lemon Lavender Bavarian. The cream was light and refreshing with jelly-like texture.

Neat cafe within the CIA. Worth the quick visit if you’re in the upstate NY area.

First, the students, faculty and staff clearly go out of their way to embrace polite customer service. With that said. The website list of days closed is inaccurate. We even called twice to verify they were open (a month before and again the morning we were heading out there), then drove 2 hours to find they were closed. We returned another day anyway and ordered 5 different items from the bakery and we were shocked at how bad they were. Their famous pecan bits were indeed WONDERFUL as the New York Times has noted but outside of that the other items including the chocolate biscotti were tasteless, a bit stale and totally unacceptable from ANY bakery much less an internationally renowned culinary school. I can only report our experience and hope it was an isolated failure, after all this is the highly acclaimed CIA. Other positives...the grounds are lovely, especially the terrace and fountain. The faculty are engaging and clearly love their jobs. They seem delighted to share their knowledge with visitors. A 5 out of 5 on all measures (outside of the dreadful bakery items).

This is a fantastic place to stop on vacation. Great place to take in an affordable sampling of lighter gourmet food, especially the desserts! Fun to walk around the first floor hallways and observe meals being prepared.

I guess we were towards the end of the schedule but still, 1 hour before that they ran out of almost every food we could have eaten. Why adding salt in everything including dessert, beats me. I remember the food some 10 years ago when I first stopped by as much better and more diverse. Not many options for vegetarians. Also there are many free tables but none of them were cleaned at so we had to clean one by ourselves.

Wow-- great value for a superb product! I bought an apple pie, coffee cake crumble, chocolate chip cookie and some sort of truffle offering and my family LOVED everything! Great chatting with the students/ staff. My son attends Marist University (down the road) and I'll be back to CIA on my future visits!

I used to visit the Bakery few times a year , and it was so worth it to drive there for an hour, but for the last 2 years I am disappointed with the lack of selection of delicious pastries they make....Years before, there were several to choose from , and the past 2 years there were THREE - none very interesting / inviting. My last visit was on Nov 7, 2023 , just before lunch time.
