A favorite stop for us in Ithaca. While "bagels" are in the name- and they are great NY style ones- the menu is greatly expanded including sandwiches, salads, bowls, smoothies, coffee bar and desserts. Everything we've tried we've liked. Prices are fair and while the line is confusing the first time you go, the staff keep you moving along and are helpful! Funky vibe fits the college location.
Collegetown Bagels is an Ithaca institution, serving up breakfast sandwiches and more to hordes of locals, Cornell kids, and tourists for nearly 5 decades. We stopped in for breakfast for our last morning in town. For a Sunday morning, there wasn't too much of a crowd to fight through. I can understand how this type of quirky place would be the center of a college town — lots of funky options, a cool building, etc. But bagels do take an eternity to come out, the cashiers are surly, and honestly the bagels just aren’t that good. I mean, look, I’m a New Yorker. I’m going to be hard to please on bagels.
