About Hawi

Hawi serves flavorful and hearty Ethiopian dishes that will leave you wanting more. With generous portions, every bite is a delight, from the spicy beef and lentils to the tender goat. The combo plate for four is huge and everything is delicious, including the veggie sambusa with its tasty sauce. Don’t miss the unique peanut butter coffee or the amazing chocolate fikir. The vegetable platter and two meat platter (chicken breast doro tibs and lamb yebeg wat) come with fantastic veggie sides like fasolio, kilt, and shiros. While the atmosphere may be unremarkable, the food is exceptional, making it a must-try. The staff are friendly, and service is good, though it can be slow at peak times. Be sure to arrive early or reserve a table, as this popular restaurant fills up quickly. It is also BYOB, so you can bring your own wine.
