Food is not that great. Packs taste and the people serving are not very friendly. Did a take out order and they missed items. Food is really bland and roti are very chewy. Only good think I have liked about the place are the samosas. Rest of the app and food lack taste, lot of food coloring and oily

I’m not a big fan of Indian snacks or sweets, but whenever I visit Jackson Heights, I always make time to stop by Maharaja Café for their tea and some sweets. I absolutely love their samosas — they’re my favorite!
The service is excellent; I’d give them a full 5 stars ⭐️ for doing an amazing job.
Maharaja Sweets sells a lot of mithai (sweetmeats) and it also doubles as a cafe. Most customers come for the dosa. Chaat is very popular in India and people eat it before dinner usually outside. I like Dahi Papri Chaat which has both taste and color appeal. When my order was placed before me my face fell. Brown upon brown. It had no flavor and after three bites I left it. It should have had thin wheat wafers, yogurt, tamarind and spicy mint chutney and sometimes pomegranate for color. Even the server agreed with me as we discussed this sad rendition. Here there is a clean restroom which is one reason I come here as it's hard to shop and where does one go to powder one's nose?

**IMPORTANT** WAITING FOR OWNERS RESPONSE
I have been going to Maharaja Sweets since 5 years to buy Diwali sweets for school kids and teachers. Never had a bad experience except for today with this one woman employee who has absolutely no interest in working and respecting her customers. She has an attitude and doesn't even smile. For most part of the times I have been there I was lucky enough that I never got to interact with her but today because of the rush I had no choice but had to deal with this employee.
She is disrespectful, her ego and attitude shows and she is discriminating.
I am sure the management will ignore my review as they have done with the 300+ reviews. I personally met the owners wife last 2 years ago and she was a humble old sweet lady. The employees need to be trained on how to interact with customers if they want to keep their rating up.

The ladies besides that one older aunty at the counter have no manners at all. They ask a question, when you answer they're talking to their colleagues and ignore you. They're so rude. I would give this place a -1 if I could.

I have loved this place for nearly two decades, and bring people here all the time. I tend to go for the snacks (the chaats and pakoras) more than the sweets, but I love sampling from the vast sweets counter too...there's always something to try there that I've never tried before. The chai is good and the waitstaff in the back are just super sweet and accommodating. It is not the first place typically talked about in this neighborhood full of great eats, but trust me, it's a must-try!

The sweets here are really good — fresh and authentic in flavor. However, the management of the line is quite poor and there’s usually a long wait time. It also feels like they prioritize Indian customers over others, which makes the experience less welcoming. The service could definitely be more organized and fair to everyone.
