“Delicious. Food is packed with flavor- like every bite is a party. The goat and fish were cooked perfectly- tender and full of spice and savory. Jollof rice had an aromatic smokiness to it which I loved.
Everyone was welcoming and friendly.
The fuufu was the best pairing for the food. Tried the amala too (I think base may have been cassava and it's more dense) and whole wheat fuufu too but neither topped the original.“
“I came here around a decade ago. They did not have a buffet back then, as many of the reviews here state. I remember liking this food. The restaurant was empty when it was new, mostly because the neighborhood folks couldn't afford restaurant food. But I noticed a large staff, which gave me the impression of whoever opened this spot, did it with love.
I'm Latin X of Caribbean Colombian and Coastal Ecuadorian decent. I came here to say, many Colombians would be shocked to find what Colombians believed were their cultural foods, right here in a West African restaurant. I remember seeing a whole wall stacked with just bunuelos, Colombian style. When I asked, oh you guys sell Colombian food too? They all looked at me like I was crazy, even though I was standing right next to the bunuelos, slowly realizing, the bunuelo isn't Colombian, it is actually West African as they told me it was their nationality's bread. I just can't remember if they said that bread originated in Uganda or Angola.
I have recently moved back to NYC. I think I will return to this place and find out. Fellow Colombians, come and check this place out. Find out where your grandparent's cooking magic originated from. Wepa!“

“Loved this restaurant when I came to New York with my husband 2 years ago. We loved the food and their Ginger Juice. I was looking forward to getting some ginger juice to take home this time. But sadly went there and no longer open. Wishing to find the same kind of ginger juice but no luck so far.“
“My standard expectations were blown out of the water. The restaurant delivers good value consistently. The food comes fresh, tastes great, and offers many choices. The restaurant proprietor was sweet and considerately helpful. A really outstanding restaurant visit!“

“Went with my wife after church service, instead of take out, we dined in. The food is great, service is impeccable. While we were there, they attended to almost 20 orders. Everyone was just in and out with their orders. Very respectable. The following Sunday, we had to do a take out. The Iyan and egusi soup was so good that when I could barely finish the food, they thought I was done with the food, and they came to clean up... I was like nope, I'm just resting I will finish it 😀😀. Good food“

“We stumbled on this place your local home-cooked. The food is great. They just need to get more organized. We came there with friends raving about the food place our orders and they came back stating they ran out. We had to wait. It was late on a Saturday. If you’re going there go early before they run out of food.“

“The girl answering the phone call for orders should be taught English because it’s absurd how we in America and she can’t understand simple English when ordering food. You’ve to get an English speaking person to be answering the phone.

“A great lineup of African cuisine options. As a picky eater, I usually stick to what I know but this time I wanted to try something different and I was pleased. The white rice with goat meat stew was good; I’m not a fan of spicy food so the savory flavors were put together very well. The plantain that I had added to the dish, gave it exactly what it needed. This is not my first time at the location so I can identify that the service could be better and more hospitable. I’m a person that likes to ask questions before purchasing or before inputting food into my body so I appreciate when people take the time to be attentive. Besides that, I will likely be trying their food again as they have a wide selection ranging from meats and stews to different starches.“

“I used to order regularly from this restaurant through UberEats. The pepper steak and chicken bowl with Jollof rice were delicious. I tried the peanut stew and it wasn’t my fave. They upped the delivery fee to $6.99 on UberEats. Way too high so unfortunately won’t be ordering from here anymore.“
