Samascott’s Garden Market is an absolute gem that exceeds expectations the moment you step inside. What first appears to be a standard garden nursery quickly reveals itself to be a charming and multifaceted market. The nursery itself is expansive, with a stunning selection of plants — all well cared for and offered at prices that are more than fair given their size and maturity. Whether you’re looking for perennials, herbs, or flowering shrubs, the variety is exceptional.
Beyond the greenery, the market features a delightful assortment of local produce and an impressive refrigerated section stocked with prepared meals, making it easy to grab something fresh and homemade on the go. Their local cheese selection is another standout, especially the indulgent Saint Stephen from Four Fat Fowl. The gift area, with its stoneware, cutting boards, and linens, is perfect for thoughtful, last-minute finds.
And then there’s the best-kept secret — the ice cream. Silky, custard-like, and irresistibly creamy, it just might be the best in the Capital District. Samascott’s Garden Market is far more than a nursery — it’s a destination for gardeners, food lovers, and anyone who appreciates quality local craftsmanship and flavor.
Gave two stars because my kids enjoyed the corn maze. However your tickets say once you get all 8 stations you get one free ice cream. Then I am informed that it is only for a free soft serve and the machine is down and we have to pay for the ice cream which is supposed free from doing the entire corn maze. Which I paid $50 for. If the free ice cream is only for soft serve it should be properly annotated on the card. if your machine is down you should still honor the free ice cream on the ticket.
Pricey but amazing stuff. From homemade meals, to little gifts, to amazing ice cream (they even have vegan ice cream!), and gluten free items....lots to choose from and always fresh food.
I absolutely love this place! The food is amazing, healthy, delicious and reasonable priced. This is my go to lunch spot almost every day.
Best ice cream in town
Our family does soft-serve face-offs each summer to see which local business has the best standard vanilla. Samascott is always on the top. Not sure what they do that's putting them on top. But their vanilla soft-serve has a silky texture, it's clean tasting, not insanely sweet, and pretty generous portions for price. Their hard ice cream is great too. Corn, blueberry, and coffee are our favorites. If you're gluten free, make sure to bring a cone-- they are always kind enough to fill ours.
The farm store is always stocked with the freshest produce too! Peaches, tomatoes, and apples are where it's at ?
great ice cream
Was excited to see new greenhouses. What a disappointment. Much less variety than before. If you're looking for petunias or geranium they've got tons. Same with the hanging baskets. Won't be buying plants there anymore. Holmquest has a lot of variety.
I go here often for evrything from plants to tamales to produce to ceramics to ice cream! The staff is super friendly too.
Super good ice cream

Corn maze is too muddy, it's like Burning Man. Should not allow people to get stuck in the mud without morning
Really beautiful place!!! Got some plants, flower pots, and fruits and veggies. Ice cream was the best I’ve had!
