You want a good pastrami or corned beef sandwich? Zan's has you covered. It offers a cozy diner atmosphere with quality food and generous portions. If you love pickles, you'll really enjoy the pickles here.

Another spot my wife and I revisited from my childhood. I haven’t been here in over 10+ years and after walking in, the smell just brought back so many memories. It seemed as if nothing changed, in a good way. The only thing that changed was the prices. I was surprised to see the prices have increased so substantially but I don’t mind paying a bit more to support a local business with quality food. Our food was DELICIOUS. We don’t get to visit Long Island often but we do anticipate coming back to Zan’s whenever we are able to make the trip again.

I just went to Zans in Lake Grove and I ordered a pastrami on Challah bread with some Russian dressing and some coleslaw. He wanted to charge me five dollars for a half a pound of coleslaw. It’s cabbage. I am sick and tired of being ripped off. Coleslaw is better and tastie at KFC.. I guess the guy behind the counter is the owner and he got insulted and defensive, he had something to say about everything. $23 for one sandwich and it’s not even like a sandwich that you would get at Katz deli in Manhattan. I am sick and tired of being ripped off!!!In the end, no coleslaw?. Also, their noodle pudding has gotten smaller and it’s $10 for a small portion?. I’m not saying that the food isn’t delicious. It’s just way too expensive.
Good deli food. Traditional booth layout. Cole slaw and pickles served as predinner.

If I could give this place a 0 review I would . Roaches crawling and when they were told they didn’t seem to care . Dirty silverware just completely disgusting. The board of health will be notified..
Really weird writing this review. I hope some things change for the better in the near future. I had great memories of this place. I stopped in recently for dinner with a friend. Got their reuben - it was massive, the corn beef was fatty (could've been worse) but it was so absurdly overpriced that I actually considered walking out before we ordered.
The quality of the food is not the same as I remember. The prices are astronomical and it's a damn shame because this place use to be on the money and have great food!

Yikes! I felt like I needed to take out a small loan to pay for our meal. I have never spent so much at a deli before. A "gourmet" deli, so they say, but a deli non the less. I was told the pickles were great, and the service was ok. The food was mediocre at best, certainly not worth the money. $90 for 2 pastrami sandwiches, a corned beef sandwich, chicken salad, onion rings, fries, and iced tea. I'm not sure if they charged for the tap water, but I wouldn't put it past them. Did I mention that was the cash price with a discount coupon? Let's not forget the automatic $20 tip added to the bill. Yes, this was a sit-down deli, but I never experienced an automatic tip on a bill for 4 people. If you plan on going here, make sure you have deep pockets. Oh, if I didn't use the coupons, you would add another $40 to the bill, making it $130 for food for 4 people at a deli. It's been four days, and I'm still in a state of disbelief.

Sandwiches are big but still over-priced. Sides are not included.

Zan’s was recently granted the Meals on Wheels contract, and I have to say what a wonderful difference in the quality and choices of food. My delivery today consisted of pepper steak and egg noodles, and it was absolutely delicious! Now instead of dreading deliveries, I can actually look forward to them! Can you guys put Chicken Francaise over mini penne; and stuffed shells, with green salad and garlic bread on the menu? Thank you!
Also, I come from a large family, and planning meals is a specialty of mine. So if you need help in putting meals together or need meal suggestions, please let me know.

I gave the food two stars because the chopped liver is good (you will need to add salt and if you like a little egg in it - doesn’t appear to be any). The turkey was horrible, not fresh turkey slices as you would expect, but a turkey loaf product formed and sliced to resemble turkey. Yuck. Staff seemed tired and not thrilled to be there. The prices were crazy - $26 for a combo Turkey/ chopped liver. They do give you a lot of food, but who cares if it’s not good. We’ve eaten here for years in the past and probably hadn’t been there in two years - don’t bother. And when we asked for a container (small) to put the 1/2 chopped liver sandwich in they said no, I had to wrap it up in a sheet of wax paper. Had to get the manager who still didn’t want to give us a box! Really?
