Every experience we have had at The Horned Dorset has been delightful. There isn't a bad dish on the menu. Make a reservation - you won't be disappointed.

We loved our dinner at the Horned Dorset Inn! From the service, to the food, to the atmosphere...it was all traditional without being stuffy. There was a great balance of formality and casualness paired with delicious food and drinks. If you're ever in the area, I do not hesitate to recommend it!

We went to the Horned Dorset to celebrate our 45th Anniversary. From the appetizers to the dessert our meal was fantastic. Server was friendly and attentive. There is no place around that has the same atmosphere...love the beautiful woodwork, art and the quaintness that they have to offer.

An Elegant welcoming atmosphere began before even entering the building with the views of the gardens perfection offering a taste of what was to follow. The servers were efficient , personable and polite. The menu was offered as a welcoming variety that challenged my actual choosing ability ---- EVERYTHING was appealing. The experience was overall very positive ---- the food was excellent! Thank you for a great evening of dining.

fantastic fine dining experience. In all regards it was a great time. Had five courses, all were perfectly executed by both the front and back of the house

The food, service, food presentation and dining experience were superb. The cocktails and wine list offer a nice selection of options. The atmosphere is intimate and you are allowed to eat a pace that is leisurely and very enjoyable. There are daily chef specials and complementary pre and post bites from the chef to add a special thank you for dining with them. A must have is the Lemon Soufflé for dessert.

A fabulous dining experience from beginning to end. Worth the hour drive on a beautiful Saturday evening! A wonderful meal should never be rushed, and we all appreciated the time in between courses. Shortly after being seated and served water, we were treated to a delicious crackers served with a small pot of a hot cheese dip, identical to one my mother made when I was growing up, so what a treat that was! We placed our drink orders and perused the menu. For appetizers, Delicious French onion soup was served in its own small terrine. Crab cake paired with beef tenderloin carpaccio was a small feast for the eyes and the gnocchi was outstanding. For main courses, we enjoyed the halibut special, pan seared and served with a potato soufflé and fresh seasonal veggies. Rack of lamb was the most tender and delicious I've ever tased and the veal schnitzel was exceptional. Having our meals delivered under a cloche was very nice touch! When we were told the specials for the evening, the dessert Special was a soufflé that we needed to order when we ordered our entrées so it would be ready in time. We ordered one for the table and it was out of this world. The entire experience took about two hours, which is perfect as you do not want to hurry this type of dining experience. The service was very attentive and friendly. Thank you for a lovely evening. We will be back!

We went to Horned Dorset as a tradition for our wedding anniversary and have done that each year for the last 4 years. We had our first date there 34 years ago. It's still as lovely as ever. Mike is as pleasant as can be and each year, it's like seeing an old friend. He does a great job! The food was fabulous and for dessert, we had soufflé, also fabulous. Looking forward to next July at the Horned Dorset!

We ate dinner here for a special occasion and it didn't disappoint. I had the chicken and my dinner date had the beef. We ordered dessert as well. Make sure to order the souffle for sure. We will go back as it was an amazing meal with great service. We did not spend the night but would love to return for that at some point soon. It's a little remote but well worth the trip.

most interesting place to eat. head waiter was good, and overwhelmed, his back up was as well, the person filling water glass was on point.empty dishes left on table,no return after food service, I like fresh ground pepper. we had one really unplesant dish chicken, rolled up chicken stuffed, the only flavor that one could taste was rosemary , the chicken was dry and chewy. Sad $44.00, all portions were small, preparation of the other dishes were excellent. especially the sweet breads . I have not had them better, steak the best, veal was on point. don't miss this beautiful eating establishment, I would like to spend an evening there.

First time back to Horned Dorset in 30 + years. Has not lost a step.... a truly outstanding restaurant in a historic building in rural upstate NY. We were celebrating 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet dinner for our brother & sister-in-law. Each course was expertly prepared from the first to the last. We each ordered different first and second courses and a mix of choices for the final course. The souffle was excellent. We ordered both white and red wines - the wine list was a nice mix and priced well for the clientele. All in all a lovely evening with the attentive service you would expect from a restaurant of the Horned Dorset's reputation and caliber. If we are back in the area we definitely will return, and would recommend it without reservation.
